I have heard rumor that the lake at DCA is drained because they are putting in some new stuff?

Anyone have any info on this and how long they are going to have it torn up?

Thanks

:yay:

Great link, Thanks.

So I can pretty much guess that the lake will be drained when I go the first week of March. Ick. Oh well.

Yeah, it doesn't look all that great at the moment but it will. :cool1:

I took a picture of it this summer at night with all the lights shining on it and I love that picture. It is the wall paper on my desktop and I'm glad I have it now that DCA is in "transition".

I can't really tell from that thread what's going to be closed and open during the expansion. Will Screamin' still be operating?

You can bet on it. With all the disruption over the next 3-4 years DCA will have some trouble pulling people in. They need to keep all the headliners going as much as possible.

I didn't check blackjack's link, but the recent miceage article (I think it's written by darkbeer) shows that the Crush "world of color" ad is now down, and they have "lovely" light blue walls all around the lagoon.

Couldn't they have used a DCA-type color, instead of the DL blue? Like...orange or something?

When I was there with my sister we saw two port-a-potties down in the drained lake and we laughed about how now you could see the "hidden potties" that were covered by water before. It just looked funny to see them there. I see now in one of those Miceage reports that they have now put a little wall around them! :rotfl:

I overlooked posting this one this morning, it was my personal favorite:sad2:

The funny thing is, when we were there for Thanksgiving, it was drained and they still had a PhotoPass photographer up on the bridge to take pictures of people in front of the 'lake'! :rotfl:

Needless to say, there were no takers.

I understand World of Color won't be open for another few years but will the lake itself remain drained for that long?

No takers? Really? Wow that's a picture I would love to have for historical sake. Maybe next visit I will have to head over that way and hope they are there.

My understanding is that it will not. From earlier Al Lutz articles I understood they need to put some infrastructure into the lagoon that they skimped on during the original ultra-cheapo construction. I suspect the water will be back after a few months. I have not been keeping up on MiceChat but if you do some searching someone will probably know.

For background, here are some Al Lutz articles from 2007 which discuss the issues with DCA and Paradise Pier from a 2007 perspective

Not being a hydraulic engineer, I would think they would have to do the plumbing etc for the new water show or is that a pre-built stand alone that they would just palce in the lagoon??
