Can someone tell me about staying at Celebration?

My wife said that she would like to stay off property on this trip to WDW. She said that the hotel in Celebration seemed nice. So I went on line to see what I could find out and unfortunately there is little to no reports of people splitting their time between Celebration and WDW. Has anyone done this, and if so, was it a good experience or more trouble than it's worth?

We've stayed at the Celebration Hotel and yes it is very nice. I guess to answer your question about staying in Celebration for a WDW vacation really depends on what you're looking for in a vacation. The hotel is a boutique hotel and is part of the Kessler Collection of hotels. It is very nice for couples, honeymoons, anniversaries, etc. All the rooms are decorated a little differently. The room we were in faced the lake and was very nice. We also had the buffet breakfast in The Plantation Room, which was very good and the service was excellent. However, that said, I don't know that I would stay there with the intent of still spending all my time at the parks, either. We stayed there for two nights before our check-in to our DVC unit during our anniversary week. Sometimes you can get some very good deals at the hotel by doing an internet search. If I recall correctly, I think we paid a little over $100 per night and that included the buffet breakfast for two. I seem to remember Mousesavers.com had a special listed on their website and that's where I booked it.

I got a speeding ticket driving through celebration looking for a golf course. The cop said they write tons of tickets because the speed limit is real low and people fly through there, so be careful.

Goofy Dad,
I also got a speeding ticket in Celebration. I was going to dinner at Columbia Restaurant and a movie afterwards. Sort of ruined my mood for the night.:cool1::banana:

Welcome to Disney's private town! Thanks for staying, playing and paying! ;)

It's been a long, long time since Disney owned Celebration (I should know...it's my hometown and I have watched a lot of changes). All they have now are the outer parcels. But you'd better watch that 25 mph limit...Mickey won't make you pay, but Osceola County sure will.

Don't forget Mona Lisa. That is a nice place to stay too...right off 192.

Do they not still effectively control the planning board, or has that arrangement finally been circumvented?
