We have friends who want to purchase this weekend. I called my guide and he is away all weekend. Can someone tell me what the current deal is for SSR?? Thanks,, in advance!!!!!!

As of mid-May 2009, DVC was selling Saratoga Springs at $112 a point with a $13/point incentive, netting the cost at $99/point.

You can also save $$ by having a referral from a DVC member. I think, but I'm not sure, the referral discount is $8/point. Be sure to have your friends check into getting a referral discount.

For a new member, I believe you have to purchase a minimum of 160 points. Also, the annual maintenance fees for SSR were shown to be $4.34/point. On a 160-point contract, that is $694.40/year.

We just closed on a 160-point contract for Bay Lake Tower and our closing cost was $244.50. I don't know if SSR and BLT have similar closing costs.

Hope this helps.

wdrl - When you say you paid closing costs, was that transaction through Disney or a resale? I did not get hit with closing costs for my add-ons through Disney, both at BLT. Thanks. - B1

But there are closing costs on original buy-ins, for new owners.

We paid the closing costs on our BLT contract because we are brand new members of DVC. Our DVC guide mentioned that if we decided later to add more points to our contract we would not pay closing costs on an "add-on" purchase.

You might also have your friends check out SSR resales. At about $60-65/point, they'd be saving a mint going that route versus buying through Disney. :goodvibes

Not sure what the base points you will need to purchase for that savings. It

Current incentives are giving you a certain $ amount off and then if you have a DVC referral you get money $ or a Cruise. I will try to find the current incentives for you guys.

Found Em:

This is the current Incentives going for purchasing the DVC through Disney.

New Incentive effective 4/1......

New contracts:
$8. discount off $112. for GC & BLT
$10. discount off $112. for AKV
$13. discount off $112. for SSR/THV

These "new owner" incentives are good only with an "existing member referral"..

Existing/New members: (same as the previous incentive)
existing members Add on 100 pts: a 3 night cruise for 4 (160 for newbies)
existing members Add on 125 pts: a 4 night cruise for 4 (200 for newbies)
existinf members Add on 200 pts: a 7 night cruise for 4 (270 for newbies)

OR

These "new owner" incentives are good only with an "existing member referral"..

Newbie..
Take an additional $$ off the already discounted price....
160 pts take $6.
200 pts take $8. etc...

Existing member...
Buy 100 pts take an additional $6. off the discounted price.
Buy 125 pts take an additional $8. off the discounted price.

So...buying into BLT as a newbie...there can be a $14. discount off the original $112. price.

As always call your guide for more "official" answers

Further to the cruise incentive, the cruise must be taken between August and December this year (but requires 25% of the purchase price is paid up front), or August and December next year (but requires only 10% of the purchase price is paid up front).

Based purely on the price point of the cruise, and assuming you want to take one, it makes more sense to take the cruise rather than the additional discount on the points, unless you are buying like 1000 points. $8 for 270 points is $2169. A 7 day cruise is a lot more than that!

Not sure why anyone would by SSR thru Disney right now, I could see BLT.

We wouldn't want a cruise...what would I pay for 100 or 125 BLT points as an add on?

Would it be $104 - $6 = $98 for 100? $104 -$8 = $96 for 125?

With a March UY, I would get '09 points in September, is that correct? and that is when I begin paying the fee?

When do BLT points expire? We already own at AKV, when do they expire?

We really liked our 1 night Kidani stay. Is the current price for those $102 - either $6 or $8 also the deal?

Thanks,
Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. I have tried to find the current offers on the Members Page, are they there somewhere?

DVCNews always has an updated incentive price list. http://dvcnews.com/content/view/227/173/

You would receive 2009 March UY points that you could use after BLT opens in August. And the fees will be prorated. I'm thinking that they will now start in Aug so with a March UY you will pay for 4-5 months maintenance fees. BLT expires in 2060 and AKV in 2057.

With the current incentives, you would pay $98.00 per point for 100 - 124 points, and $96.00 per point for 125 and higher.

If you want a March UY, then you will get 2009 points. They can be used after August 4th. MF's will start after the resort is open. I have a June UY and my fees are prorated for 4 months.

Good luck!

Thank you, and thanks for the link. I never know where to look, and I've bookmarked it!
