Can someone give me rental advice?

I am interested in doing some point renting. - Does anyone think I could rent someone's points and still get anything for this December 31, 2008 and January 1, 2009? Am I crazy or is it possible??

The only way would be if a DVC owner had a confirmed reservation that they were not going to be able to use. The way to find this out would be to post what you are needing. I would doubt very seriously that there is availabilty at any location. Good luck with your search.

I'll re-confirm that you are crazy ! I couldn't even add a night in either January or December to my stay.

I think the only way to know for sure is to put a "reservation wanted" ad on the Rent/Trade board and see what happens. One of my daughters has gotten 12/29-1/1 reservations twice on short notice by using the waitlist.

I think your chances are low, but not impossible.

As a renter, however, you will have to be totally committed to going on the dates that are rented for you, and you'll probably have to pay in full on very short notice. There won't be any cancellation or rescheduling with that kind of ressie, in all likelihood.

Keep an eye on the Rent/Trade Forum starting November 30.

Maybe someone will post a reservation that they can't use and you can rent it from them.

Also, watch e-bay because my DH just saw something for those dates over the weekend. Not sure if it is still there or exactly what you need or the rate is good.....goodluck!

Don't be so hard on yourself. I have seen those dates in past years come up for rent. Keep your eyes open.
