Can someone explain to me the "turn down service" when staying on the concierge level

I don't know that it's the same everywhere, but basically, housekeeping comes into your room in the early evening, and pulls the cover on the bed down to the foot of the bed, so that, theoretically, it's easier to get in for bed. They also leave you some goodies, like little chocolates, and sometimes straighten up just a little if you've messed stuff up since they cleaned the room earlier in the day. If your kids have stuffed animals, they might arrange them in an interesting way, or sometimes towels will be folded in creative ways.

Some honeymooners or others with special occasions at certain resorts report having more significant goodies left during one night here or there -- like a small cake, or a Mickey photo, or baloons.

I for one don't really get the whole "turn down" thing other than the little neat stuff they do for kids. The thing they do with the covers is kind of inconsistent with the way I like to have my covers. I find myself pulling and tugging and kicking them and stuff to get them how I want them.

It's supposedly a "request" thing, but often it happens whether you request it or not. I think they sometimes do a "turndown light" at some of the deluxe resorts in non-concierge rooms.

Resorts CM Here With the way turndown works:

Sometime during the evening, a housekeeper comes in and turns down the bed for you, does a light cleaning of the room, refreshes towels if need be, things like that. Depending on which resort you stay at, you may either get "goodies" on your pillow either each night or on your last night. If you are staying in the concierge level, again depending on the resort, you may even get a small note left by the concierge team hoping that you had a wonderful stay and telling you what the weather will be like when you return home!

I really enjoy the turn-down service because they refres the towels and do a little lite pickup in the room. We always go back to the hotel room in the late afternoon the relax a little, shower and dress for dinner so its nice to have that service.

If it's available at the resort you stay at.. request it! it's a nice service...

At the GF, they leave these great little vintage postcards on your pillow, which I love. I saved them and when I got back, I put them in cute little frames. They're precious all hung on the wall together. So there you go, you get home decor as well. :D

Turn down service is available at all Disney deluxe resorts. The reason that it's optional, is because it's not a standard service, like daily housekeeping. At a deluxe resort, if you want nightly turn down, you can simply request it at check-in or call housekeeping from your room to arrange it. If you're staying concierge level, they will automatically give you turn down service. It usually consists of housekeeping coming to your room in the evening, between 5:15 and 9:45pm. They'll do light cleaning, as in taking out your trash, replenishing any towels or toiletries you used after daily housekeeping came, they turn down the covers on your beds and depending on which resort you're staying in, you'll get a candy and a good night poem. They will also leave a light on in your room, as well as the tv or radio. As another poster mentioned, if you have children who brought along stuffed animals, they pose them in cute positions. We've had ours reading a book in bed, or holding the tv clicker, etc.. It's a little Disney magic at the end of a long day.

As an FYI, I normally tip this service at either $1 per bed, or a $2 minimum.
