Can someone explain to me if I what to buy more points later on how it works?

I am thinking about buying 200 points at SSR but if I needed more later on how does it work. I have been reading the boards but when this gets brought up I just don't get it! Please help! Thanks!

Assuming you are adding at a resort that is not yet sold ou (in this case SSR), you would simply do what is called an "Add-On", ie call you Guide and tell them you want to add-on. Minimum add-on is 25 pts if paying cash or 50 pts if finanacing.

For sold-out resorts (all the other existing DVC resorts), you would see if pts available and if not, waitlist for them in your current use-year.

You can do an add on contract. You can buy as little as I believe 25 points to add on directly from Disney. This is contract is added to your existing contract. The problem is anything less then 150pts from Disney is considered an Add-on so, if you UY is sold out or resort is sold out you have to go on a wait list. You can't just buy another UY from Disney. The only way is to buy a new contract of 150 pts or more. So if you want to buy more points from your home Resort and it's less then 150 pts then you are out of luck. Disney will somewtimes buy back contracts and then resell them to members. That's how they sometime will have points for members to buy from them. You can also buy a resell from a pvt party and with no restrictions. Hope this helps. I have a 150 pt contract at VWL and an add on contract of 50 pts for HH. I just added another 125 pts at SSR all have a UY of June.

Ok if you add on points later at a different resort how does that effect your reservations---which one is your "home"?

Each set of points will have a different "home" if you own at different resorts. And you will have 11 month access only with the points that live at that home resort. For example you own 150 SSR and 100 VB for a total of 250 pts, you could reserve a stay of up to 150 points (before borrowing) at the 11 month window at SSR (not 250), while to use the VB points there you would need to wait until the 7 month window (and vise-versa, of course).
