Can someone explain this Airfare ?

Why is a RT ticket around $262 and if you price it for the outgoing only - such as a one-way it is around $750? This is confusing to me. Why such an extreme difference?

It's usually because with a round-trip, the airline has you guaranteed coming and going on their planes and doesn't have to work to fill those seats. One way isn't a "package" deal so it's always been higher. You've run into one of the more extreme cases, but when I was doing heavy business travel, I'd see worse.

Ok thanks! I keep hoping for something better than the $262 (I can do $242 later in the day, but if I go later it better be because I am bumped and getting a free flight out of it!!!) and I am exploring all the options I can think of.
