I called today to order my card and was told it takes 6-8 weeks to get the card-and after to speaking with the very slooooooooooow CM I understand why. My ds said we could walk to disney and make the card ourselves faster. I also didn't know it won't work on July 4th(bummer)

The reason it takes so long to get the card is because there has been such a huge response from AP holders to get the card that they are really backlogged.

One other note to make, since Animal Kingdom does not have any table-waited restaurants in the park, your DDE is good at all the counter service, like Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ, etc. This makes this locations particularly good values.

I used my DDE this past week with much success, O'Hana's, Flame Tree BBQ, food court at Pop Century almost every morning. I am certain I saved the cost of the card in this one trip alone, and I will be using it again in less than 2 weeks.

After reading the listing of participating restaurants, the one that I did not see was Teppanyani. Did I miss it, or was it added later, or is it just not included?

Unfortunately, Teppanyaki does not accept DDE. Of course, they may change their minds...Please, oh Please! We love Teppanyaki!

Its not included with DDE but it is on the list of AP discounts for lunch time at the Epcot restaurants. So if you eat there at lunch time and use your AP you can get a 10% discount.

Yes you can order it with your voucher, you just have to read them the numbers off of the back

I am leaving in a few days. I will be purchasing my AP at Guest Services when I arrive. Can I purchase the DDE when I purchase my AP or do I have to order from home and pick up the temp. letter when I purchase my AP? Or do I have to have my AP in hand before I can even phone and order DDE??

Another question if anyone knows -- since the DDE cards have expiration dates, do they "activate" on first use like APs, or do they arrive with an expiration date a year out from your order?

I had to read the numbers off of my ap voucher so I don't think you can order it withoutthe ap. You can't buy it at Guest relations it has to be ordered by phone or mail from the DDE office.

It usually expires around 13 months from time of purchase. I ordered mine on May 5th and it expires 6/30/06.

I was also charged right away as opposed to a lot of people saying they weren't charged until it was shipped.

Hello...read that the DDE is open to 'everyone' so considering getting one for an upcoming trip. Do you know if this is good for character breakfasts at resturants covered under it (Cape May/Crystal Palace?)???

DDE is only open to AP holders - regardless of residency and Florida residents.

It is a great deal though. We saved on our last trip and will save again on our upcoming trip.

I was told I can call and order the DDE after I pick up my AP's at guest relations next Wednesday morning and then they will fax a temporary authorization over to EPCOT that day. I do not think they are open weekends so you need to plan accordingly if you are in the same situation I am. I foolishly believed the person who took my AP order and said that since my arrival date was less than 30 days out they would not mail it- it was then about 21 days out. Hopefully it will all go smoothly once we get there. I thought I had to order through member services to get the AP discount for DVC so didn't try the regular ticket order number.

I would wait until early January to order them. You will need the voucher as they ask for the numbers on the back. They will actually tell you which month they expire so when you call, make sure and ask. They are activated upon ordering. Right now it takes approximately 3 weeks to get the card.

I'll tell you my story and that should help you.

I called last Friday on November 4th to order my card for December 9. When I called the person asked when I was going. She then told me if I waited and called back on Monday, November 7, the card would expire in December 2006 not November 2006. I really appreciated her telling me this. I then called on Monday and they took my order and told me if the card did not reach my home by December 6 to call back and they would have a temporary card for me at Epcot. They required the numbers on the back of my AP voucher since I do not have the actual AP yet.

We used ours for several character breakfasts last trip-saved lots. I believe it is also good for hoopdedoo(later show only). We saved lots of money with the card on our last trip-it was very worth it Also POR foodcourt was not on the list of participating places, but when we got there we asked and they said they accepted it. We were even able to use it to buy our refillable mugs!!
