Ive heard of people renting points from others etc but i dont get how it works. Also is there a place online to see the CA DVC rooms?? How much are they typically in the off season? Tia!
Lol no one really will explain the point system to me. I need it in simple terms as i have never even heard of anything like it before so when they reference how similar systems work, im still completely lost haha
Go to the dvc member services forum and there's a sticky thread there explaining it in detail. The main dvc forum's sponsor rents out points and there are also dis members there that rent out their points.
Here's a link to the sticky in that forum:
To sum it up, people buy points at a Disney resort. Each room at that resort costs so many points to use depending on size of room, view, and date. You can plug in your date of your trips and calculate the total amount of points needed (use the dvc sponsor's calculator if you'd like...David's vacation rentals). You can rent those points from owners or a 3rd party that mediates between owner and renter. Again, the dvc forum has all the info you need, just go to the stickies.
It is a timeshare. So when you "rent" DVC points you are buying them from people who have bought real estate in the form of a timeshare through Disney. The cost to rent a point depends on the owner of the points or the 3rd party company you buy them from. When you "rent" points that person has to do the booking for you.
To see the DVC rooms just look as the suites at the Disney hotels. Most of the suites are actually DVC rooms that you are booking straight through Disney and not being told they are DVC.
