Can someone explain dining to me?

We recently took the 3 night cruise, so the dining experince there was fairly simple--no formal night to deal with. But we are contemplating a 4-night cruise for about the same time next year. I've seen some posts about people trying to match their dinner rotation with formal night, but I'm a little confused about all that. Is there a formal night on the 4-night cruise. How does all that work. Do you eat at one restaurant twice since there are only 3, or is one night replaced with Palo. Thanks!

Palo is voluntary, it's your choice not part of the rotation. So yes, you'll hit one restaurant twice if you so choose to follow the rotation (I.e. don't do Palo or the buffet). Some people prefer to dress up for their favorite restaurant so that's why they change. No real requirement.

Palo is never included in any dinner rotation. It's a separate restaurant.

On a 4-night cruise, your first restaurant will get repeated on the last night.

As far as the formal night and "fixing" the rotation, there are a number of people that wish to spend their Formal Night at Triton's (Lumiere's on the Magic), considered the fancier restaurant of the three. So they request a rotation that puts them in Triton's on Formal Night.

There is no official "formal night" on the four-day cruise. Dressing up for Triton's on the rotation or doing Palo out of rotation is as close as you'll get. I don't recall seeing more than a couple tuxes or formal dresses on our four-day last year. There were a fair number of suits at Triton's, but sport coat and tie (and even without) was more the norm. I actually even saw shorts and dirty t-shirts worn for dinner at Triton's That was the first night of the trip, however, so I'll give the diners the benefit of the doubt and assume their luggage was lost or delayed.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I guess I just had a little confusion between the 4 night and 7 night!

Is that the way they're handling it now. Back in '99 when we cruised your 3rd restaurant was also your 4th night restaurant.
