Can someone explain annual dues on a new account?

I am confused about what I am being charged for dues each month. We purchased 170 points at SSR, and closed in late March. Our first dues payment (we're doing it by auto debit) seemed a bit high, but I figured it was because of extra days from when we closed to the end of March. Now, on May 1st, the second dues payment was debited, for the same amount. The total amount of dues for the year should be 170 pts x $4.12 right? If I divide that by 12 months it works out to $58.36 per month. I am being charged $74.25 each month. In addition, I didn't think I would have to pay dues on the months BEFORE we closed. Am I wrong? I have tried various ways of doing the math, but can't figure out why I'm being charge the amount DVC is debiting from my account. Can anyone explain? TIA.

Assuming you purchased from Disney and not resale, dues are assessed from the day you agree to purchase, not closing. So, I assume you purchased early March or late Februry. Your first payment was in April, so you are paying 10, maybe 11 months of dues in 9 payments...that is why they are more per month.
