Yes ladies, Im a male so I know nothing. Can someone explain a wedding from beginning to end to me? Im trying to figure it out by reading, but I keep reading about desert parties, mad hatter tea parties and stuff. But I don't know where these things fit into the day and what their purposes are. Like what does the brides day consist of from beginning to end and the grooms from beginning to end? I know this is a really dumb question, but I've only been to my sisters wedding and I was young at the time, so I don't remember much. :worship:

As a groom I can't say much about what the Bride does for the day, but I do know for sure that the Groom's task is to do exactly as the bride says! Ha Ha! :goodvibes

I've been a part of my mom's wedding years ago, and myself only had a civil ceremony, so I can only be of little help...but here it goes. :confused3

It depends completely on the bride...and each on is different. Same with the groom...cause every groom is different.

Primarily, hair, make-up, get dressed, last minute shuffling. Pictures lots of pictures. Ceremony, more pictures...lots more, reception...toasts, food, dancing, mingling, cake cutting...

There is not real right or wrong order (as far as I know) for all the reception stuff, it's all up to you guys.
Dessert parties, tea parties, all that stuff are all extras to do with your loved ones. Some as welcome things, and some as good bye things.

A bride is usually (not always) caught up in a frenzy while trying to enjoy what's going on around them.
A groom? couldn't tell ya.

I guess talk to your future bride and figure out how much you want to be involved, and how much she wants you to be involved.

PS-Wonderful Disney brides...please feel absolutely free to correct me if I've gotten anything wrong! No offense will be taken :hippie:

Having just gone thru this Thursday with friends of mine let me try to help

Bride:
Hair/Getting Ready-She got ready at the church and if she didn't have one of us with her she would stress out. This usually ended up with a phone call to me. Let me tell you for a woman who is usually really together-at one point about 2 hours before the ceremony she thought she was going to be late. It took me 10 minutes to convince her that the party didn't start until she got there! :rotfl:

Getting ready photos and other photo ops. -This occurred at the church prior to the bride and groom getting there. Flowers, church, alter, candles you name it. The photographer was all over it. Then there were the getting ready photos. If you're male you don't want to be anywhere near that room. This is a zipping up, getting into, fighting with pantyhose, safety pinning, make up applying perfume spritzing frenzy! (Rent My Big Fat Greek Wedding...they do a great remake of this!)

Ceremony-enough said. This was specifically a Catholic Ceremony. It ran 60 minutes.

The groom...

We started with a semi calm groom...Good. He shuttled things too the church while his bride was off getting ready. (This was not a Disney wedding) I had a back up list in case he forgot his....He lost his on the last trip over...

Yeah...he was semi calm until...the last trip of stuff came over. I took care of decorating the church and sent him home to change into his tux. (Insert frantic bride phone call here)

He came back to the church showered, dressed and ready to go. He looked great. I went to pin his boutonniere on and looked at him and said "breathe." He laughed and said "You can tell?" and then started to laugh. He was in a separate room with his groomsmen. He was excited, nervous, happy...and a mixture of all three at some points, but when his bride walked down the aisle you could tell he had just been made the luckiest man alive. His huge smile and adoring looks gave that away. :goodvibes

The Bride and Groom along with their wedding party and families took more photos.

The Reception
This was very low key.
There was an entrance and introductions of the wedding party and bride and groom.
The toast-made by the best man...another made by the maid of honor.
Buffet Dinner
Then the bride and groom mingled
Cut the cake
Mingled some more
Both had loving adoring smiles on their faces the entire time...Their love was so obvious. It was wonderful!
Then we all packed up and went home.

This was for a home ceremony and reception...
Tea Parties and Desert Parties as explained in the previous post, different ways to show guest some of the disney magic. I guess that is the best way to explain it. They are just extra events.

This has to be the most adorable question ever...and good for you for not being afraid to ask! :)

The bride's day consists of getting her hair and makeup done, pictures, etc...it doesn't sound like a lot but it usually takes hours to get the bride, mothers, and bridesmaids all ready. The groom's day consists of doing whatever he wants as long as he's dressed and at the location for the ceremony (or pictures if they're being done beforehand) at the time that the bride or whoever is coordinating the wedding says to be there. After that, there's the cremony, usually a cocktail reception (and possibly pictures), and finally the regular reception for dinner and dancing.

These other things like the tea parties and such are usually done as welcome events or luncheons for the bridesmaids. There's also the rehearsal dinner that is usually (but not always) the night before the wedding, and is traditionally for the wedding party as well as any out of town guests, but can include local guests as well if desired.

The most important thing is to show up dressed on time, and to help out with things your fiance needs. And, here's a BIG tip lol: before she even asks you to do something, ask her if there's anything you can help with for the wedding, because she'll have a ton on her plate leading up to the big day.

Good luck!! ::MinnieMo
