I am working on my DD's teacher end of the year gift from the class. I have a glass vase that I want to decorate with paper pictures that will not cover all of the vase. Is there any way I can seal the paper, so it will be waterproof?

Are you looking to do Mod Podge or something along those lines?

They also sell spray sealers as well.

Go to Micheal's.

I've used mod podge for those applications in the past with success.

Nothing is going to be completely waterproof. What about modge podge the inside of the vase with pictures and then put a smaller vase inside the decorated one? The water would go in the smaller vase and it can be removed to be washed.

I'm assuming that you're not putting the pieces inside the vase if you intend that it be used for flowers? If I understand you correctly, you want the person to be able to wash the vase occasionally and not peel off the images?

The best thing I know of is spar varnish, which these days is actually polyurethane; it is meant for waterproofing the deck finish on boats. Several coats of it will let you run a wet sponge over the surface without messing it up. For the best result I would suggest using fine sandpaper on the glass first, to roughen the finish and give the polyurethane a better surface to adhere to.
