can someone anyone please tell me about your shark floor mop

I'm looking at the bf ads and thinking that i might need the shark mop thats on sale can someone give me the lowdown on if you like yours or not? what are the good and not so good of it ?

We have a Shark steamer mop, if that's the one you're looking at. We love it.

It works best using only distilled water, and does an amazing job on our ceramic tile and hardwood floor.

I have the one that sweeps then steams. I love it. I use it on linoleum and on pergo. Cleans with no streaking and I love that I am only using water.

I love mine. I have the $80 (Walmart) model. DD laughs and says I love it when the grandkids spill so I have an excuse to "shark" the floor. I have laminate, vinyl and hardwood and it works great on all.

I thought about purchasing one-but the installer who put my hardwood in said you should never ever steam mop hardwood-ever. Wood floors are "thirsty" unless you live in a very humid climate and they take up water from the steam, expanding them, opening the grain and eventually ruining them. Since my house is all either hardwood or carpet i didnt see getting one just to do my three bathrooms and six square feet behind my bar.

I am moving into a new home (an old farmhouse) and borrowed a friends Shark steam mop to clean the kitchen and bathroom. Neither floor looked disgusting, but oh boy did the pad at the bottom of the mop look gross when done (in fact, I had to wash it out for the kitchen - had to use it twice!). I am totally sold on it. Found one at a local store for $49.99, refurbished. I think I'm going to buy it!!

I didn't like the steam mop. Especially in my kitchen, it would "push" the dirt and accumulate under my kitchen cabinets. I took the mop back for refund.

I absolutely love mine. Especially in the winter when everyone is tracking in mud/salt.

Pros: Easy to use. Just need water. Gets more junk off the floor than you would think is there. Just rinse the pads out in the sink and then toss them in the laundry.

Features to look for: The triangular head (mine came with both the big rectangle and the triangle) because it works well for corners, around the toilet, etc. I also have the one that you can flip over. This is especially nice because I can do everything by flipping it and using both sides of the pad.

Cons: Worrying about possibly damaging the floors

We have damaged/crappy wood floors so I had no concerns using the steam mop on them. We have tile in the bathrooms and around the fireplaces.

We're almost done renovating our kitchen and two other rooms and are installing cork laminate flooring. I've actually been disappointed for a while now thinking about how I'm going to clean the floors without my steam mop.

We also have laminate flooring upstairs in the bedrooms, but I've never tried steaming it since I'm too worried about ruining it. Fortunately, no one ever wears shoes up there and it really doesn't get dirty enough to need it.

I'll be interested to read what floors others use theirs on, but thus far I've been too paranoid to try it.

did not like the sharp - very wiggly handle made it hard to maneuver. I switched to Eureka enviro steam and much happier.

Love it! As I get older my body gets more and more sensative to chemicals I get rashes, nauseous, migraine triggers you name it! I have ALL tile and hardwood floors my mom bought me the Shark Mop/Vac I do not use the vac part often I sweep instead. I have no problems with the steam, just add water turn it on wait a minute voila. Id recommend it to anyone.

You have to sweep/vaccuum before you use it. It isn't designed to sweep up loose dirt. It is more to pull up the grime that is in the floor.

I had a shark and I really liked it for the first 1.5 years. My floors always looked very clean, but it was amazing how built up the gunk on them was. The first few times my pads would be black! Disgusting. My shark started having issues though where it would clog and the steam wouldn't come out. It didn't look gunked up from our water or anything like that but we never could get it unclogged. We have never had a problem with our water before on other things, but if I get another steam mop I will definitely use Distilled water. I am a tad hesitant to get another Shark but I do think the culprit was our water. I am researching all our options though!
