Can RCI Transfers be Reversed?

Due to Covid, DVC had extended the banked 2018 points to Nov 30 2020. I had 102 points expiring on Nov 30 2020 and we were unable to use them. Around mid November I called them and asked if I could use my points for a reservation I have end of Dec and they that said no. My only option was to do a late RCI transfer of 100 points that would keep them valid for RCI till Dec 2021 and I would lose 2 points. Reluctantly I agreed to the RCI transfer but now when I logged in to account today I realized they have further extended those 2 points to Feb 28 2021.

So I called back to see if the RCI transfer can be reversed and if could use the points for my Dec vacation. Well they allowed me to use the 2 points remaining but told me that RCI transfer could not be reversed. If DVC was going to extend those points beyond Nov 30 they should at least make decison a few weeks prior rather than making folks transfer them to RCI and then extend their expiration.

I undertand that I made the decision and the rules apply but if they are going to change the rules last minute then should be able to reverse those bad decisions too.

Has anyone had their RCI transfers reversed due to last minute extension of expiration dates by DVC. Thanks and I appreciate your help!

I've not heard of any additional extension out to Feb unless perhaps you own at Aulani?

DVC did some RCI pull back early after they had offered it as the only option for expiring points but then extended to Nov 30th. That was unique and I wouldn't expect it to happen again but you might write or else ask for a supervisor to see if anything can be done. I'd expect the answer to be no though.

They did allow people to transfer back from RCI with April and June UYs because the extension of points decision came after the deadline to put into RCI.

I believe that the extension of Aulani points was given prior to the deadline for depositing into RCI. It was announced mid October.

So, I would check to see when the email went to Aulani owners. It was posted here and I’ll try to find.

If it was after the October deadline to deposit, then you at least can argue. They seem to be doing some case by case.

EtA. Here is thread. The decision was October 7th it seems which is before you were required to deposit. However. Worth the shot.

Thanks! So I didn’t receive any email but what is surprising is that I had called in November and asked them to allocate these points to my Dec reservation and I was told that they expire Nov 30 2020.

If the member services are themselves unaware of these changes then how can they expect us to keep track without any emails!
