I feel that I must lay our a little background here first, so please bear with me.......

Gabby has come up with a some idea for us that would give us more pixie dust next year than we usually have in two years. This is wonderful, but in the process I would need to lose a park day during our upcoming trip. While this is really no huge lose, because of the fact that on my birthday, we are going to be spending the night before partying our buns off at PI and the plan for my birthday was to spend it sleeping in, downing a few good coffees from Kona's Coffee Bar, shopping at DTD, and finally heading over to Epcot for the evening and dine at R&C to see IllumiNations during an EMH night, which we really shouldn't stay out at all night because it's a Friday and we have an early morning the next day.

While I am ok with skipping Epcot that night, there really is no good way to work R&C back into our schedule on another night without compromising the F&W experience, which we are both looking forward to, but Gabby loves the Potato Leek soup from R&C so much that I hate to rob her of this particular guilty pleasure. I know that there will be a Potato Leek soup offered during the F&W fest at one of the booths, but it will be served chilled and she only likes the heated version of this dish.

Now, with all of that covered, I am considering a lunch at the R&C Pub. Would they be able to get the soup from the R&C TS restaurant to serve to her? If so, it would solve, what is to me a big problem. I want to make sure that Gabby gets her soup, she is spoiling me rotten and if I can make sure that she is gets her usual "soup therapy" from R&C, it would make me really happy! TIA Maggie

They used to have their own menu. No, it wasn't the same as the restaurant menu.

Now, I know they serve fish & chips, the same as the ones from the Yorkshire Fish Shop next door. (If you have a DDE card, you get 20% off if you order them from the bar, but not from the fish shop.)

I have no idea if you can get restaurant menu items from the pub. You'd have to ask.

Why not just make a reservation for the restaurant for lunch. The soup is on that menu.

I remember a very short menu in the pub. The Fish & Chips that Nala mentioned and the fruit and cheese plate were on it. Can't remember if the soup was.

Have a fun trip and Happy Birthday.

I think what she is trying to say is that Gabby only wants the soup and she doesn't want anything, so making a reservation might be problematic.

However, it may be the only way to get ahold of that soup. Or they could buy the chilled soup from the booth and leave it out in the sun awhile (not a serious suggestion)

I have seen people eating in the pub bar, but I'm not sure if it was the full menu or not. Shame you can't call them directly to ask. I can't imagine that the CM's at Disney Dining would have a clue, way too much info to know as it is! You might be able to appeal to the better nature of the CM's behind the bar to get you that soup.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think that we have found a suitable compromise. I found out that the Big River Grill serves chicken pasta alfredo, which is her second guilty pleasure dish. So, in skipping Epcot that night, we will swap it out for dinner over at the BW and enjoy some entertainment over there, which we have never done before.

Thanks for the replies though. I enjoyed the giggle from the suggestion of setting the soup out in the sun. :lmao: Maggie

FYI, I had the potato leek soup at the F & W Festival last year and it was served very hot.

Was the potato leek soup advertised as being hot or chilled last year? This year, it's listed as being a chilled soup. TIA Maggie

It was warm from the Ireland booth last year, but I do see that the menus have it chilled. Personally I think that is a little wacky for Irish food, I really can't see them chilling soup. Hardly the comfort food I think of. I could be wrong however.
