Can my son set up a tripod on Tokyo Dining's deck for Illuminations?

we brought one that had extendable legs on it that at max length has about 5 ft tall, never a problem through security. It was about 18 inches when it was fully collapsed.

I think I need to clarify, thanks for responding. I didn't want to know if he could use his tripod, he's used it before with no issue. My question is whether he can use it up on the deck of Tokyo Dining for Illuminations? Are there chairs set up there for people to sit, and he would block their view? Or do folks stand up there to see the show? I've never been up there, and don't know if they restrict people from standing and watching. Thanks.

So you are referring to standing on the railing as pictured below, correct?:

If this is your location, then here's the answers:
Can he use the deck? Yes
Are there chairs? No
Would he block their view? see prior question for chairs, other than that, if he's there first and set up, no one should be able to complain as they came later.
Do folks stand there to watch the show? You betcha.
NOTE: The music is not too audible from up there however. You can hear it, but there's no speakers close by, that's one of the only cons of this location.

I have some of my best pictures from there honestly. The tables inside the restaurant are elevated somewhat so that they're essentially overlooking you on the deck. So you won't be blocking anyone's view who is eating, unless you're super tall.

This one IS one of mine from that spot.
