Can my dad (Fl Resident) gift us Fl resident tickets to WDW?

So Dad lives in Orlando. If he wanted to buy the kids, or the family tickets to WDW at the FL resident rate, can he give us those tickets, or do we have to show FL resident status in order to use them?
Anyone know? It would seem to me that the latter may be required so that FL residents didn't just buy tickets for everyone across the country! LOL
But I have no idea how that works?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately he can't. If he gets FL Resident tickets online or at the gate for someone else he will only get vouchers that must be redeemed by the ticket user. When the voucher is redeemed they will require proof of FL residency.

Will your Dad be going with you? If so, I think he can get the kids' tickets and use his ID to get in. The adults will have to buy their own seperately. Just go to two ticket windows if you are afraid they will ask for your ID for the kids.

Yes, this is true, but I thought I had read one time that you could actually get children tickets without showing proof of residency.

Here are your answers. Basically it will not work.

These are the official rules:

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and cannot be purchased for out-of-state family or friends.

An adult Florida Resident may purchase Florida Resident media for more than one Florida Resident from any location that provides an exchange certificate and not an actual ticket.

Children under the age of 18 are not required to provide proof of Florida residency if they are accompanied by an adult with valid proof of Florida residency

If the Guest has an exchange certificate, a valid form of Florida ID will be required when the exchange certificate is redeemed for the actual pass

One ticket only per valid proof of Florida residence (a Florida resident may buy tickets for minors in the party)

Exchange Certificates may say:

"After sale..., may not be transferred except as a gift." This means that the certificate may be given as a gift, so long as the recipient meets the defined Florida residency criteria.

"Purchase and redemption of this exchange certificate requires proof of Florida Residency."

The following items are the only documents accepted as proof of Florida Residency:
* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Florida Voter’s Registration Card with the Guest's name and address with corresponding photo ID
* Valid Florida University / College Student ID
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases listed below:

I will be honest, it really depends on the CM at the gates. Twice I have used Southern CA resident tickets to get into Disneyland (Mom bought one time and my friend bought another). They did not card any of us to check for residency. Worse case they card you and your Dad ends up with an extra FL resident ticket and you have to buy a regular one.

Your father will have to show proof at the gate for anyone under 18, but he will most likely also have to have a ticket.

If he can't be with you, it won't work at all.

I think the no ID for under 18 is partly an incentive to get grandparents to take their grandkids to WDW. Not just get a few people in with a cheap ticket.

Sooo....my son, who lives in Tampa, can get my 15 y/o dd, a FL resident pass, and she doesn't have to show an ID?? He can just buy it for her??? Who knew!!

Yes, I think some of the people the OP was talking about were the purchaser's grandchildren.

But he has to go with her EVERY time! Does he want to come up from Tampa for the entire vacation?

The ID only has to be shown when the ticket(voucher redeemed) is purchased. After that I am pretty sure you are not ID'd everytime you go to the park. That means they would have to stop and look at each ticket before they go through the turnstile to see if it is resident ticket and then ask for ID and that would cause chaos. After he gets the ticket for her the first time it is ok and he does not have to be there.

This is true. They only ask for you proof of residency (either to get a new ticket or validate a voucher) at the ticket window/hotel. Once you get your ticket they do not look at it again unless you have issues at the turnstiles.

As a former resident I have gotten tickets and never had my id looked at again.

So if your son comes up and get the ticket for her then he doesn't have to be there every time you go into a park.
