Based on some information about getting competitive quotes, I decided to get another quote for my (already reserved) cruise on 3/29/2003. I went on the Disney WEB site and they said there is nothing available. Can this be?
It can be a number of factors. If the cruise isn't sold out, it may not be available for your party size. Or the children's programming is sold out if you have children. You could check with just two adults and see if anything comes up.
I have found that sometimes the DCL site is a little dodgy. It could be that at the time of day you tried your inquiry, they were updating the site or whatever, but I had the same thing happen to me several times when I was pricing out my cruise, had a panic attack, then tried again the next day, and presto, plenty of availability.
Of course, you could always just call them, but that's not nearly as much fun as the Web!
I just rechecked Disney's WEB site and that date now does show availablity. So, I checked the rate and Disney is $100 cheaper than DU even after all the DU rebates. By this I mean the overall cabin price for the four of us is $100 cheaper. I e-mailed them to see if they'll match the price. I sure hope they do.
I am really surprised that Disney would be cheaper. I always thought you got a better deal with a travel agent.
After reading this post, I decided to check our 7 night New Years cruise... by listing only 2 adults... the December 28th cruise isn't even an option... So, would your best guess be that this cruise is fully booked? If so, can it really be that only two people on these boards are crazy enough to pay those outrageous prices?
Erika,
I am pretty sure that the New Year's cruise is booked because I checked into going that week months ago and it showed no availability then. I would LOVE to go then but like I said, it was booked! I know how you feel about paying the big prices for the holidays...we are cruising Easter week and the following Christmas week 2003. I am a teacher so I don't have the flexibility to go at other times when it's cheaper. I was surprised not to find anyone going Easter week or next Christmas either!
Ann
It is always worth a try to get the most qoutes that you can. Most people say that booking directly through DCL is more expensive. In my case, I have yet to find a travel agent that can beat DCL's price. Happy researching
I booked the 3/29/03 cruise 2 weeks ago through DCL. I also found their rate to be cheaper than anyone else. I originally wanted to try to get the Family Stateroom but their were none available. So we "settled" for the Deluxe w/verandah....
