Can I write a check at Disney???

Our room is paid for, but we are thinking of leaving a cash deposit for room charges in addition to a credit card... Can we write a check for this instead of taking cash??

From what I remember you can not write checks at Disney. When we go we allways either put cash or travelers checks on the account when we check in, and what ever you don't use (yeah right) will be returned to you either in cash or credit your credit card.

Absolutely! Most Disney resorts will accept checks when presented with two forms of ID (drivers licence, etc.). Have a great trip!

You can write a check to pay your bill, but they WILL NOT CASH A CHECK! So be sure to have some pocket cash available.

I would sugest taking travelers checks. Many banks and AAA offer them for free. Any that you do'nt use you can simply deposit into your checking account when you get home.

Just adding my experiences which is again you can write a check almost everywhere. I did it allot this past Dec. Just have to have two IDs.

Actually, ducklite, they will cash a check. We were at CSR a few weeks ago and when we inquired were told we could cash a check up to $50/day at the Guest Relations desk. The strip on DHs ATM card decided it was not going to work during our vacation, so this was a life saver for us (saved us from driving to a check cashing place).

Just my 2¢....

WDW resorts offer a credit line against your credit card at check in to charge almost anything, meals, souveniers, etc., back to your room. [At least they did in years past, don't know if they made any changes to this recently.] We found we need very little cash because almost everything takes credit cards, except tips, food push carts, etc.

IMHO, I think the credit card/room charge is a safer route to go than cash or checks on account. If you have the cash ahead of your trip, you can put it in the bank & pay off your credit card when you get home.

As for cash, there are ATMs at WDW. Never ran into the problem that Jenny2 ran into. Good tip to make sure cards work, perhaps carry a spare. Thanks for the tip, Jenny2.

Yup, Nuts4Disney, that's just what we did. When we explained our predicament to the Guest Relations office they suggested we just charge everything back to the room and then if we wanted to before we checked out we could write a check to pay for what we'd charged (instead of having it get charged to my credit card). We cashed a couple of checks just to have some actual cash on us for the little stands that don't let you charge to the room. It all worked out in the end

The strange thing about DHs ATM card is we withdrew $$ in MA right as we left for WDW (we drove) and it worked fine. When we went to use it at CSR, nothing. When we got home it still didn't work. What timing for the strip to get fowled up!!

This must have recently changed then. In November I was not able to do so.

I have been cashing checks at every single Disney hotel we have stayed at for years. Limit is $50/day and I only showed my Driver's License. We always charge our room charges on our Disney credit card, so I do not know the rules for writing checks for our entire stay. If you check the Disney website, they state that personal checks are accepted for payment. The day we leave is usually the day we write the $50 check (to have cash to get home). Hope this helps.

In emergency situations, they will go up to $150 per day. Same thing happened with my mac card when I went down at Christmas. Guest Services cashed two checks for me at $150.00 per day. This really saved our trip for us!
