can i use the dining plan credit on a magic band even if the band hasn't been activated in the park?

our son is leaving early in the morning of the last day of our package.
can we use any leftover credits on his magic band in the parks on that last day, even if he hasn't entered the park using the magic band?

If he has been staying in your room, you don't need his magic band. All the credits for one room are on ALL the magic bands. If there are any leftover, you can just use your band.

i didn't know that...
but the answer to that question is no - he, my daughter in law and two grandchildren are in a separate room on a separate reservation (disney required each room to be a separate package - which is great, since that means we get two $200 gift cards instead of one )

so the question remains, will it be a problem for us to use the credits on their magic bands....not only on the last day, but on any other day during the time we're there if we take his band when they don't go into the parks.....

To be honest, I don't know the answer to your question, but I do have a solution. If you know for sure they will have meals leftover, have them "pay" with their bands for everyone when you are together. This will give you guys the "leftover" meals.

Agree with sharonabe about using the credits earlier to pay for others, but as far as your question about using his magic band - I have no experience doing this and am not familiar with the restrictions there may be, but as a point of reference, use of dining credits is not based on the scanning of a magicband at one of the parks. Nothing is actually stored on the magicband. It merely acts as a link to what information is stored in MDE. Since dining credits can be used throughout your entire stay they can be used any day - even in a day when your magicband has not been used for entry into a park.

yes, this is what i figured would be our best bet.....have them pay for some of our meals during the course of the stay....
so that they don't have anything left over when they leave...and the meals on that last day are only on our bands..

We were there last year for a baseball tournament and some people had some credits left and were leaving a day before us early in the morning. They left their bands and pin and we were able to use the last of their credits on their checkout day until midnight. They had a quick service plan so we just used for lots of snacks for the kids that were still there by doing 3 snacks per the remaining quick service credits.
