Can I tour the AKV and BLT models on my own?

We are about to go to SSR for our first trip since joining DVC. I did the tour whilst on a solo trip in 2006 so DH has never done it / seen any models (he wasn't keen on DVC and I bought our 100 points with a legacy left to me!).

Is it possible to just tour the models without a guide? I think that seeing them would help DH understand that we need more points (maybe to stay in a 1bdrm not a studio) and maybe think about buying these at BLT. I think a guide might put him off (after 25 years together, I know he likes ideas to come slowly, without any pressure).

I think I read somewhere that we could tour independently but am not sure when. Does anyone know this? Thanks!

There are Member Only hours but I don't know what the current schedule is or if it will change because of BLT. I suggest that you call your Guide and explain that you want to tour on your own.

We were at SSR in mid-August and the hours to tour were 5-7pm. There was a guide on the sidewalk outside the building available to answer questions but she left us alone to tour on our own.

Yes, I think member hours are 5-7. I doubt they would change with the added new models.

I wasn't even aware there was such a thing. So, members can just show up between 5-7 any day and see the models? We'll be at SS for a couple nights next month and had wanted to see the BLT set-up but didn't want to bother a guide with an actual 'tour' b/c we aren't really considering buying there right now. But a self guided quick peek would be great.

Yes, I just talked to our guide on the phone yesterday and he confirmed that members can tour on their own any day from 5-7.

There are models open at BWV all day until maybe 10 p.m. I think every day. Of course they are the Boardwalk decor, but you could get an idea of size and set up.

We just returned from the Member's Open House - held each evening from 5-7pm. Just go to the old Cinema building at SSR and you can see the AKV and BLT models. There are DVC CMs available there to answer any questions.

The BLT models are impressive. We toured this morning and again this evening. Photos are posted on Mousecellaneous.

So the BLT models are over at SSR and not over at BLT ?

The BLT models are over at SSR next to the Sales Center in the same building as the AKV models. BLT is still a construction site and there is no access there. Once the resort opens in September, 2009 (assuming it has not yet sold out by then) there may be some models set up in the resort itself (like the GV which is not presently available to view). DVC has done this in the past at VWL and BCV once the resorts opened.

To my knowledge, there is a Member's Open House each evening from 5-7pm to view these models.
