Can I take rice milk on an airplane for allergic child?

My son is 3 1/2 and allergic to milk. We are going to the Bahamas. Can I take his boxes of rice milk that are in liquid form on the airplane? Do I need to do anything special to get it approved? I am not certain if they sell it in the Bahamas so I would want to bring at least 4 boxes for the trip.

when we went twice to disney my dd drinks milk. I brought 4 bottles incase she needs it on the plane or whatever.

I kept it seperate from carry one(little foldable bottle bag). I told the scanner person and they have a special
scanning machine where they put every bottle and it some how checks it out.


It takes a few minutes extra no big deal

In the checked luggage, you shouldn't have a problem. I'd bag them in some ziplock bags incase one leaks.

If you are talking about carry on, then I would only take a few drink box sized ones. They may make you throw it out, but most likely will let you through as long as it is in a ziplock bag. Every airport is different and you never know what the security person will do.

I have never had to spill my milk. just explain your situation.
but it in bottles easy to carry and to get checked thru that scanning machine it has to be round bottle shape to be inserted in the machine.

The Bahamas is international travel. Check customs regulations in addition to security.

It comes in rectangular shaped boxes. I can check it but wouldnt feel safe doing so as I wouldnt want it to spill. Who would I call - the airlines? We havent made our reservation yet and if I cannot take it then we may have to go somewhere else.

Why not contact the resort you are planning to stay at and ask if they have rice milk

If you are trying to take it carry-on it is up to the TSA not the airlines. And like a previous poster said you need to double check that Bahamas customs will allow it to be brought in.

We brought a box of soy milk to Punta Cana last year for my daughter. We cheked it in our luggage inside a ziplock bag. It arrived safely.

Just go to the TSA website and they'll have a list of yes/no items. They may even have a place where you can ask a question. I second on calling/emailing the resort. They maybe can see if they carry it or can check at a local store for you. Good luck and have a great trip

If you are worried about the boxes being crushed in your checked bags, put them in a hard sided plastic box. I wouldn't let something like that stop me from taking a vacation. There are always solutions to everything. You just have to be willing to adapt and think out side of the box.

Exactly, my DS is allergic to milk. So if you can't take the rice milk, no biggie, a few days without milk won't kill anyone. Shoot, I am 48 and haven't had milk in years, but I hate the stuff.

1. You would be importing food into another country. This may not be allowed.

2. More than likely you would not be able to bring it in carry-on luggage.

3. Just pack it well inside a hard-side suitcase.

Exceptions are baby food and bottles but they only allow a reasonable amount for the duration of the flight. So several boxes of rice milk will not be allowed. I say pack it in the checked bags. If you pack it well you should have no problems. Or mail it ahead of time to your resort. But again you need to check the the Bahamas customs will let you bring it in to the country.

Another suggestion is to contact the resorts concierge. They can tell you if they have rice milk on the property and/or where the nearest grocery store is and will probably call the grocery store for you.

Agree with your post, BUT, the limit is 3.4oz, not 3.2oz (it is 100mL which is 3.4oz).

We have a letter from our daughter's doctor asking to let us carry-on food due to food allergies. Sometimes, TSA is no problem, at other times, I just want to pull my hair out! Regardless of policies, it just depends on who you end up interacting with. Be prepared to have to toss your food. It may be easier to purchase rice milk when you get there, if available.

just mail it to your resort. Send it Fedex or UPS so it gets there quickly and intact.

That is if they don't have it available. My order of inquiry would be:

the resort - to rice milk availability...if none, then a request to the availability of shipping a box to the resort...if not allowed then

TSA - the packing requirement for the rice milk and if it can be brought on board and how much could be carried on and if it required any medical notes.

if everyone was a no go then the reality is the child doesn't need milk for a few days.

Are you talking about some kind of liquid food? Because you can bring solid food through security. Just nothing such as yogurt, apple sauce, etc.
