Can I take hot tea on the bus to the theme parks?

I always brought my coffee with me. I do think I realized (several days in) that there are signs saying no food or drink. I don't think it's enforced.

I have never had a issue taking my mug on the bus with me. As long as the cup has a lid the drivers usually are okay with it.

It's up to the driver to enforce.

Most drivers won't stop someone with a covered mug or hot cup.

Many drivers won't allow open cans or paper cups with plastic lids.

Most will stop open food (ice cream, turkey legs, cereal or crackers) and uncovered cups.

I have seen many people take their covered mugs on with out any issues but I did see a bus driver make a couple dump their coffee as they did not have covers.
So if you have a cover on your drink you should be ok.

Please pay attention to the signs on the bus. They say no food or drink for a reason. Nobody on this forum can give you dispensation. Don't expect the bus driver to ignore the rules for you. :sad2:

we always bring the insulated dixie cups with lids. never once had a problem. since they had lids, we were even allowed to bring them on the Indy Speedway. it was very relaxing to head over there at rope drop (when everyone else was rushing elsewhere), and relax with our coffe/tea on a wonderful morning in magik kingdom!

Actually, there is a Diser who is a Disney bus driver (forget his name) and he has said basically what everyone else is saying. He let's it go. I think as long as it looks safe and covered, it's reasonable.

may as well walk on the grass while we are at it

actaually, the rule is no eating or drinking on the bus. NOT no food or drink brought on the bus.

tons of people bring bottles of water, gatorade, sandwiches in back packs, bags of chips, etc. etc. etc.

so go ahead and bring your mug filled with hot tea, or a cup with a lid. (just don't take a sip while on the bus!;))

And while you're carrying your breakfast, please refrain from swinging on the handrails or standing on the seats, keep your shirt and shoes on, and remember to use appropriate language!

ok, a little over the top here, but I will just assume that was "tongue in cheek" kinda thing, and post a :rotfl2:.

I don't think a mug or a cup with a lid on it quite qualifies as "breakfast". I'm a waitress and you won't believe what I can carry without spilling, so I think I (and most everyone else) can handle hanging on to a drink with a lid.

(I'm picturing myself swinging around a pole in true "singin' in the Rain" fashion.. ooh, better yet, juggling a coffee, english muffin, egg, etc. in TRUE Cat in the Hat fashion...oops, wrong park):rotfl:

I am guessing you don't waitress on a moving bus full of tourists. Accidents happen and perhaps WDW has the no eating/drinking on the bus rule for a reason.

nope, never waitressed on a moving bus, don't plan to. all I meant was people can hold onto a drink with a lid. I was being facicious, since that had turned into "breakfast".
but I won't drink while on the bus.. as per the rule. I'll wait until I get off the bus.

Take it in a mug or cup with a top that can be sealed (like one of the refillable mugs) and yes, you can bring it. I don't know about the paper/styrofoam/plastic cups with plastic lids (the kind where if you drop them, the lids are guaranteed to pop right off).

Bottles with caps, like water or Coke bottles, are also allowed.

it's not uncommon to have to stand cheek to jowl on the bus during peak times

me, being height challenged, have difficult enough time trying to hang on with both hands (flashbacks to mr toad's wild ride;)) can't imagine also trying to balance a cup of hot liquid in my hand.

I do typically bring a soda bottle with screw on lid (have been known to dump coffee into it as it's easy enough to dispose of it when finished & not have to lug it around all day) but always stuff it in string/cross body day bag/cargo short pockets to keep hands free when on the bus.

Well we're not going during a busy time so I doubt the bus will be very crowded. I also won't have a stroller or little kids to hold onto, so I feel pretty comfortable that I will be able to hold onto a cup of tea (with lid) safely while on the bus. I guess I'll just give it a try and if the bus driver says no I'll toss it in the trash. It won't be the end of the world if that happens. Thanks.
