Can I switch resort date without penalty? what is cancellation policy?

If I book a room but need to switch a day, is there a fee for that? also, what is the cancellation policy if I need to cancel? what are the fees for that? thank you!

There is generally no cancellation fee if you cancel. But there could be issues if you cancel too close to check in. I think, someone will verify this, packages have different cancellation rules.

In general you can't just change a day. There has to be a whole new reservation available for the new set of days.

Call Disney and see. That's the best solution.

You may or may not be allowed to drop days from a reservation. It depends on if the new dates are 100% available.

Cancel policy depends on if it is a room or a package.

For room-only, if you cancel within 5 days you lose your deposit.

For packages, if you cancel within 30 days you lose the deposit. If you change within 30 days you may be hit with a $50 change fee.

As _auroraborealis_ pointed out, you can only change dates if they new dates are available in inventory. WDW won't just drop dates off an existing reservation anymore.
