Can I Survive another 11 days in WDW w/ Disney-Resistant Husband? *11/25 SURPRISE!!**

Very sad about your store closing. One of ours did as well but there are others still open so we have plenty. I admit to not going there much anymore, it is so focused on preschool and younger child items it can be a little hard, there's virtually no clothing that would fit my kids and not a whole lot of adult stuff either. I do think they could do much better with a different line up of stuff, I feel like they limit themselves. Kind of sad when I find better Disney shirts for my kids at Old Navy.

You know Cynthia...you hit the nail on the head! The Disney store was great when the kiddos were small. However, at 5 and 7 years old, they were almost at the point of outgrowing much of the merchandise. While it is still disappointing that they closed, I am far more disappointed for the families with the younger children. It was my go-to spot for Christmas and birthday shopping every year for 7 years, but that was probably about to come to an end for me due to the kids' ages about now anyway.

Hi,

I had been reading your trip report but then got very behind and stopped leaving comments, but actually just finished it this evening and then spied the link to your new pre trippie!

So now I'm all back to front, I'll have to come back and start from the beginning of your pre trippie but I just wanted to say how much I loved your last trip report.

Apart from all the lovely photos of your family and Disney and even the Roots photogrpher probably the thng I enjoyed most was how honest your review was!!!

I always build my hopes up too high and am crushed when they don't match up even in some tiny insignificant way! and although I'm dealing with it and getting better I can still trhow a major strop if things don't go as the plan had decreed! but you were so good in the face of your trials and tribulations (that sounds very dramatic but I hope you know what I mean!)

And I can relate on the Disney resistant husband, my mum has took me and my sisters to Disney twice and has so far refused to countenance dad coming along, she says she wont pay thousands of pounds to listen to my dad whine about the itinerary! she knows how much my dad likes freedom and rugged outdoorsy stuff and a commando type Disney holiday which is what she loves is probably his nightmare!

A long explanation but I am looking forward to reading the new trip plans and seeing more photos of your lovely family and picking up some good advice from your experiences!:goodvibes

So great to see you again, and thank you so much for posting!:goodvibes

Believe it or not, I think our next big family vacation after this year will likely be to Ireland. Chris and I have travelled there before the kids, and Chris is absolutely fanatical about anything to do with Ireland. St. Patrick's Day is a major annual event in our house!

I will have to drop you a line for some info on Northern Ireland when the time comes to plan our trip. We are fairly familiar with southern Ireland, but have never been to the north.

I am planning a last minute trip for spring break right now. I usually have all the coordinating outfits for my kids and ADR's chosen 180 days out so this is scary for me.

I am planning on some down time for my Disney Resistent husband too. having a hard time deciding on ADR's because of that though.

Wow! Good for you! Good luck on the planning front, and ADR scheduling. I need to get on that too!;)

Yikes!!! Tomorrow is ADR Day!!!:scared1:

As crazy as it sounds, especially for someone like me who started planning this trip months ago, our ADR window opens tomorrow and I haven't finalized our dining plans!:scared1:

A couple months ago I spent some time preparing a preliminary schedule, but I haven't been back to it since January. I am not even sure if Park hours for October are out yet....yes, I really have let things slide, haven't I?:rotfl:

Tonite I will be spending the better part of the evening on Touring Plans and TourGuide Mike finalizing our Park Plan agenda for the trip, and then finalizing all of our ADRs.

I spoke with Andrea Wednesday nite, and she confirmed that she is leaving it all to me to plan. Her only must-do is Cinderella's Royal Table (for Bryn) and Chef Mickey's. She also wants to get back to the California Grill, where I took her on our solo trip together in 2008.;) Apart from that, she has given me carte blanche to plan the restaurants, and will purchase whatever dining plan I think will work best, or none at all if we decide to simply do Tables in Wonderland instead.

I am leaning toward going with the Deluxe Plan again for most, if not all, of our trip. It really worked out for us well last time, and saved us a fortune as we tend to eat at mostly 2 credit restaurants each evening.

This trip though, we also have the choice through DVC of booking a customized dining plan, meaning we could get the dining plan for only some of the days of the trip, and/or alternate between the deluxe or regular plan over various days. Sounds good, right?:thumbsup2 Only problem is that it adds that many more options into the mix. So I really do have my work cut out for me this evening!

On top of that, I am also trying to get all of the kids' spring/summer clothes finally listed on ebay on Sunday.

Definitely a lot of work on the agenda this weekend! However, by next weekend I should be back with an updated post on the final dining decisions for the trip.

And the other good news is that 6 months from tomorrow we will be back at our beloved Beach Club!!!:banana::banana:

[COLOR="Blue"AHHHhhhhh ADR's...so fun :lovestruc We made ours a few weeks ago. We've always been satisfied with the DP....the extra meals we pay oop, there is so much food! I would love to know what you end up booking :banana:[/COLOR]

Good luck getting all your park days and ADRs finalized! I can't wait to hear what restaurants you end up choosing! Eating at Disney is always one of our favorite things to do down there. :goodvibes

Hope you managed to get your touring and dining plans sorted and got all the ADRs you wanted :)

Yay on it being 6 months until your trip! :thumbsup2

Hope you were able to get your plans finalized and your ADRs booked! I would love to take a trip one time with the deluxe plan, of course, I'm not sure I'd be able to even move at the end of the week with all the food I'd be eating!

What an exciting night you have planned...sounds like :cloud9: Good luck in getting everything you want and can't wait to hear all about it!!

Bummer on your store closing! :( We haven't had one close at all for years now. I don't really understand it either. Have fun with the ADR plans!

What name do you list under on ebay??

What are your ADR plans???

Which ADR for my DH birthday would you recommend. We love CG and FF.
Have an ADR for Narcosse's that night but have never eaten there

I actually find the coordination of ADRs the absolute hardest task in all of the vacation planning. It is a real struggle and a fine art to get it right!:rotfl:

I totally agree with you there...dining in the restaurants is one of the things I most look forward to during our trips.;)

For some reason, I have found the ADR task harder this trip than normal. Still working on it actually.

I know I have said it before, so I must sound like a broken record, but I actually find we have to split meals at lunchtime just to ensure we don't go over our allotted credits on the DxDP. Since we eat at mostly the 2 credit dining places at dinner (and some other meals), I actually don't find that it is too much food at all. Last time we just had enough credits to cover us for the trip, and that was with me splitting a number of lunches with the kiddos.

Then again, I am one who eats 3 meals a day every day, vacation or otherwise. ;)

What an exciting night you have planned...sounds like :cloud9: Good luck in getting everything you want and can't wait to hear all about it!!

Thanks Queen!:)

Every time I have walked by that vacant store since it closed, it still makes me sad.:sad1:

I am not actually sure if I am able to post my ebay id or not, so I will PM you with it. I have 100 auctions ending tonite (Sunday), with a small amount ending Monday.;)

You know...I have never eaten at FF, but we are considering it for this upcoming trip.

I really liked Narcoossee's, but I still prefer CG. It remains my all-time favourite restaurant in all of WDW...mostly because of the sushi. I love it there!!! However, given that you have never been to Narcoossee's, you may want to give that a go...it is always nice trying something new!;)

Also...have you considered Jiko? I wld have to say that that is my number 2. I would also place it above Narcoossee's.

I think it is entirely a matter of personal taste, but overall I find Jiko and CG have a more modern flair to both their cuisine and decor/atmosphere, whereas Narcoossee's is a bit more traditional.

Whichever one you choose though, I don't think you can go wrong with any of those choices.;)

Exciting Disney News....

This week, I was completely surprised with some terribly exciting Disney News.

The Disney Magic is coming to my City!!!!:banana::banana:

As part of the new 2012 itineraries, the Disney Magic will be sailing out of New York, with stop-overs in two Canadian ports, including Halifax, Nova Scotia!

We get plenty of cruiseships, especially during the summer months, but have never before hosted a Disney ship! I am so excited! I can't wait to see it sail into our harbour!:yay:

If anyone is interested in learning more about Halifax, here are a couple brief, short videos about our city:

And a brief video about Nova Scotia's outdoors:

I am already looking forward to seeing the first Disney Magic passengers in Halifax!:goodvibes

Good luck with your ADRs!

And what great news about the Magic! I've always wanted to head to Nova Scotia and skirt around the Bay of Fundy. Are you tempted to book yourself on the cruise?

Thanks for the link and suggestions.

I do have CG on another night and FF but can not get it for the 25th so I may try Jiko. My kids love BOma though. That is our arrival day. Staying split GF and BCV 1 BR. I was thinking it would be less hectic not to have to get back in the car to get to dinner again. Maybe we will just eat by the pool.

I did see Citrico's and Artist Pallette last I checked.

I think my DD is about the same size as yours. She just turned 7. I love your daughters clothes. My DS is 9 now so into tshirts and shorts.

How exciting that you will see the Magic sail into your city!
I'm pretty excited about its NYC arrival.

We're so thrilled that they're finally sailing out of NY!! The 5-night Canadian cruise is right up our alley!
