Can I Survive another 11 days in WDW w/ Disney-Resistant Husband? *11/25 SURPRISE!!**

I LOVED the Beavertails. They were a must every trip. Perfect during Illuminations.

I highly recommend a Disney running event. I have attended 3 and enjoyed all of them immensely. They are a lot of fun, and being an athlete certainly isn't required.;)

And yes, it is really great that the Half Marathon for Chris lined up so well with our trip dates. In fact, we have the MK's 40th, the Half Marathon, Food & Wine, and MNSSHP. How could you possibly improve upon that?:woohoo

That really is one trip pack full of fun activities. Can't get any better! :wizard::goodvibes

How mean of you to post those beaver tails pictures?! :rotfl: Now I'll be craving one until I can get my hands (or mouth ;)) on one next summer. :upsidedow

The movie theatre I used to work out sold a frozen version of it, but certainly not as good as the real thing. popcorn::

At first I was like, Emily or Chantal? What the heck is she talking about? Then I realized...The Bachelor :lmao: Much to my walking partner's dismay, I don't watch it, she always wants to talk about it on Tuesday mornings, but I'm just clueless

Have never seen The Bachelor! Though if your putting your money on Emily then she must be good :thumbsup2

:lmao:Trish, you're too funny!!

Ok, I think Brad will choose Chantal and either Emily or Ashley will be the next bachelorette. Let's see what happens because I've invested all this time since it began and there's no way I'm missing tonight:laughing:!

The cloudberry horn from the Kringala Bakery is the next best thing that I have found.;)

I have been following this PTR, and last night i decided I would go ahead and read your previous TR for your mother/daughter trip in 2007. Can I just say that I loved reading about all of the moments you shared? Sounds like you had a fantastic time, and (though I knew you found your camera in the end, due to the photos throughout the TR) I was holding my breath at the end..cliffhanger after cliffhanger wondering how and when your missing camera would turn up!

I would just about die if I lost my camera - first of all because the photos that my memory card holds at any given time are priceless, and second of all the monetary expense of replacing my camera & lenses would hurt my wallet! I keep having pre-trip-dreams that I arrive at WDW only to realize that I have forgotten my camera at home :scared1: :scared1:

Anyway, so glad that you were finally reunited with your camera, and more importantly your photos!

Unfortunately, there was always a nagging suspicion in my mind that the Magic Kingdom might not want a 5k Family Fun Race blowing through 1 hour before park opening, especially if they were planning on doing some special events for the 40th Anniversary. In fact, although the 5k race would start at 7am, and we would likely be finished by 7:45am, I was still a little concerned about whether we would have enough time to head to the washrooms and get cleaned up in time for the special events, (either official or fan-based) which I expect will likely be starting that morning around 8am.

I was hoping that Disney would simply hold the 5k the next day - on Sunday - instead.

When the Wine & Dine Half Marathon registration opened not that long ago, suspiciously there was no information posted on the 5k, only the promise that details would be "coming soon".

Yesterday, my worst suspicions were confirmed when the 5k details were released and it was disclosed that the race will no longer be run through the Magic Kingdom, but through Animal Kingdom. Drat!

So now, as it turns out, I won't be participating in either the Half or the 5k. However, looking on the bright side, this just allows me to focus more on enjoying and celebrating the Magic Kingdom's 40th Anniversary, which was the main reason that we chose the dates that we did for our trip.:)

I had the same dilemma when found out the race was at AK. I am still going to try to run though. Unless my injuries prevent me from doing so. The knees are bad enough but today I rolled my ankle and I just hope it will be back to normal in the morning.

First, I loved your latest TR and I'm looking forward to reading this PTR as well. I'm actually doing the 5K that morning on 10/1 and I didn't even consider what I'll be missing until I read your post! Unfortunately, I can't get out of it as it's a group thing, but at least now I know why it's not going through the MK. Anyway, I think you're smart not to do it. Even from a logistics standpoint with the kids, it's a smart move. Plus, since the race is at night you have to take it easy that day and it basically means losing an entire park day. Last year there were lots of people getting sick on the course because they were eating the wrong things and having fun all day!

Can't wait to hear all of your plans.

Hi Trish! I just came back to the DIS after a several-month hiatus. I stumbled upon your PTR and I'm subscribing. Can't wait to read your plans!

Hey Trish! All caught up again!

Too bad about having to miss the race, but it just wasn't going to work out...next year, right? :goodvibes I wonder if/when they are going to announce anything official for the 40th. It sure seems like they are doing a LOT of sprucing up in the parks lately...makes me wonder if it's for the 40th celebration. But, so far I haven't read any rumors! :confused3

I loved the video of the 5k. It made me tear up! :rolleyes1 I really want to do a Disney race!

Thank you so much. Yes, I have to admit, the horror of losing my brand new camera on each of those trips was really one of the worst feelings in the world.:sad2: I figure after that I can't possibly lose a third....could I???:rotfl:

Hopefully your cameras always stay safe and sound!;)

Welcome!:welcome:

I am sure you will have a blast doing the 5K...sounds like quite a few people are doing it too! Of course, if it turns out your injuries prevent you from running, maybe we will see you at the MK for park opening that day! :goodvibes

It really is too bad that they moved the 5k from the MK though. :sad2: I have run in both Epcot and AK, but never the MK. (Well...at least not in an official Disney running event. I have been known to do the "Dumbo Dash":rotfl: You know...that really fast power walk!;))

Now that they scrapped the MK for the 5k, I am hoping this means there will actually be some official events that day, or at the very least, a special park opening event.:)

Wow! Another 5k runner! There really are a lot you, aren't there? I am sure you will have a blast, especially running with a group. I ran the Minnie 5k with a group of girlfriends a few years ago and it was a blast!:goodvibes

Hey stranger! Nice to see you back! I confess...I have been rather scarce here myself. I figure I will probably be an infrequent updater on this thread, at least until the summer months when the trip planning starts to heat up.;)

Isn't that David Parfitt video great? I figure at some point we will do a family 5k Disney race...that would be so fun! And I really do want to run a Half Marathon at WDW too in the near future...just have to start running again first!:rotfl:

:sad2::sad2::sad2:Our Disney Store Closed:sad2::sad2:

Our Disney Store officially closed earlier this month.

We found out a few weeks ago that the store was closing, and watched in horror, week after week as the store got emptier and emptier. By the end it was just so sad to see.:sad2:

The Store Manager and Assistant Manager had been there since the store opened 16 years ago.

Earlier this year, the Store Manager travelled to the States to pick up an award for highest Canadian sales. I just don't get it.:confused3

Now there are officially no Disney Stores anywhere in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland) and we join the ranks of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Quebec in having no Disney stores in our provinces.:sad2:

I am glad that for much of the time my kids would be interested in this store they were able to experience it. It was nice to be able to walk into an official Disney store and experience a little bit of the magic so far away from the Parks. No question this store will be sorely missed by many Atlantic Canadians.:sad2:

Awww, that's sad. :( It's getting harder and harder for us Canadians to shop there. I really wish they had one here in Montreal.
