Can I still make Fastpass+ reservations if my AP hasn't been activated yet?

I am planning to buy our APs before the 30 day mark (staying off-site) but do not want to activate until arrival day. I am assuming APs are like any other park ticket in that they must be purchased but do not have to be activated. But it would be helpful to know for sure. I did some searching first but couldn't nail down an answer.

Yes - I bought my AP while signed in with Disney, and it shows up now in My Disney Experience. I have made FPs for my September visit - but will not activate until I arrive next month.

Yes I am aware. I just meant that it will be the first trip on the AP and we will not have activated it yet on a previous trip. Thanks though.
