Looking to rent a car to drive from Ohio to Disney, turn it in, then rent one to drive back home? Anyone know if this is possible? I really won't need one while I'm there, we just have 6 people to get there which do not fit in my current car and cannot afford to fly:(

It would probably be cheaper to keep the same car rather than doing two one way rentals.

You'll have to find a rental agency which doesn't limit the distance you can drive and doesn't have any prohibitions on taking the car out of state.

We live in Ohio and have driven many times. Once we get in Florida though we just keep the car, even if we never touch it during the trip.

Make sure that you get unlimited mileage. I agree with others, probably cheaper to stay with same car for entire trip.

I live in NE Ohio and have gotten some good rental deals on Costco Travel. I pick up the car at a Budget Avis location at our local mall. Enterprise has some good rates too. SUVs and mini vans are more expensive though.

Price it out both ways; two one-ways or one big trip.

Make SURE, if you do the one big trip, that there are no restrictions on taking it out of state (or specifically to FL). I'd call to make sure.

Agree with most of the above: Yes, you CAN rent a car and drop it in Florida, then do the reverse...but, you'll likely be hit with two dropoff charges, which can easily be more than the rental itself. In all likelihood, it'll be cheaper to hold on to the car....plus its nice to have. The only exception I can think of is some agencies have one way promotions to Florida locations in late summer/fall, so they have enough cars for the snowbirds then in late spring they do the reverse...good deals on one ways out of Florida.

And yes, make sure you check on taking cars out of state. Its usually OK with the major agencies, but read the fine print.

I was just looking for a friend from Boston to Orlando April vacation and it was actually much cheaper for one way rentals than length of stay. Some of the car rentals have one way specials. You should see which car rental has the best price.

We are doing this from Michigan. I have 2 mini vans we are renting from National picking up at 4:30 on June 5th and dropping them off on June 7th at 4:30pm in Orlando. Thise were 217.00 each van. Then we are picking up a 12 passenger van that same day from Budget and keeping it the entire trip as well as driving it back home and returning it on June 18th for 114.00.

I priced it both ways and for us it was much cheaper for us to do it this way than to keep the same vehicles the entire trip.
