Can I put a family member as a lead guest on a Studio and as a guest (I’m the lead guest) on a 1 bedroom?

I have a one bedroom booked June 3-7 at BCV. I also booked a one night stay for my parents in a BCV studio (June 3-4). After that one night stay they will move offsite. Can I add my parents to my one bedroom (within capacity) so they can use the pool with us after they are offsite? My dad is the lead guest on the 1 night studio. My mom is already on my reservation and not listed on the studio. Just wasn’t sure if putting my dad on my reservation would mess things up if he’s already listed as the lead guest on the Studio.

A person cannot be checked in to two reservations at the same time. It messes up the Magic bands or key cards to work the rooms.

If it is a cash reservation, you could be charged an additional adult fee ($35 per night, I believe) if he were added to your reservation after they check out. They can use the facilities all day on their departure day.

If he’s not linked to the studio, I assume he will have to get a card from the front desk to open the door and will not be able to do remote check-in

If you plan on using the early 30 minutes, in addition to the pool, he needs to be linked to your room. I would follow @smmora advice and have him drop the studio reservation from his MDE account and add hid MDE account to your room, and have the lead guest on the studio be him, but without any tickets or an MDE account. Yes, he will need to check in physically and not be able to use him magic band for the room, but both your mom and dad will be seen as on-site guests for the duration in MDE. - parking at parks, parking at the resort, pool, EMH.......

It can be done. I had a Gals meet at BCV, and we stayed in a two bedroom. One friend, Faye, had a friend, Sandy, who lives in FL, and I invited the two of them to share a studio for one night. So, Faye stayed with Sandy that night, even though she was on the two bedroom reservation. She was given a card, and I don’t think she had any problems. Sandy left, and Faye finished the vacation with the rest of us.

I love this community. Everyone is so helpful. I think I have a plan with all the great tips you all have given me so far. Let me know if this sounds like it will work.
1. I will put my dad on my 1 bedroom reservation with a different middle initial and link it in MDE.
2. His name on The studio will not be linked to MDE.
3. I can then add my cousin to the studio reservation and link that in MDE (cousin’s on my MDE from a previous trip but not going this trip)
4. my dad can then use my cousin’s magic band to open the door to the studio. My cousin is fine lending my dad her magic band since she’s not using it this year or I can even buy a spare magic band and link it to her name since she’s on my account)

Side note: On check in day (June 3rd) we are going to the Orlando Informer Meetup at Universal Studios that lasts until 1:30am so we will not be in the room until after that. Highly doubt the studio will be ready before we leave for the event at noon (eating lunch at City Walk). Hoping this will prevent my dad from having to go get a card to unlock the room when we get back to the resort around 2am. If this plan doesn’t sound like it will work then of course it’s not the end of the world to get the card. Just trying to do the easiest for my dad. Thank you all for the advice!

You may have already figured this out, but you cannot link a reservation in MDE to just one person on a res- all names on the res must be linked when adding it -or it won’t link. So, I’m afraid that won’t work. I would just add your dad to both reservations & keep your mom on just yours. I’ve done it before with no real problems.

The only hiccup might be that the MB doesn’t know which room to associate with. This showed up in 2 ways for us: (1) the MB’s worked on both of our doors (instead of just the room my sister was lead guest on); and (2) when the MB was used to charge something inside the parks, we never knew which room that charge was going to end up on (so my sister just went to the front desk & linked her cc to her MB for both rooms- easy peasy & all charges were charged to her, no matter which room’s bill it was on).
