Can I? Link a ressie, mod resort, with use of DVC points at this resort?

We have a family vacation set up for next Aug at POR. This was done before we became DVC members. Can I now call MS and set up a room (at POR) and use my points and then have that ressie linked with the kids rooms being paid for with cash? All in my name.

Are there limited on this like the 11/7 month window at our DVC resorts?

I know not the best use of my points but would help with the cost of the trip this summer for 13 people. Also know there are limited rooms at the other resort that are open for DVC use.

you can do it - but I would go with a 2-bedroom villa at a DVC resort....

now I don't know if they can link a reservation on the DVC system with one on the CRO system - but the resort can - I would call or send a fax to the resort.

Why not just cancel your CRO ressie and make the whole thing at a DVC resort? It will cost less points, and therefore less money in the long run. Sounds like a GV or 2 bedroom plus 1 bedroom will accommodate you group.

You can't link a CRO reservation with a MS reservation. They are two different systems. What you have to do is note each reservation number on the other reservation. Then you might be lucky, but again, you might not.

Cancel the POR ressie and use your home resort. you won't regret it.

Okey have been going over and over the points. I think the best thing to do is go for the DVC resorts, cancel my POR, and see if I can get someone to sell me the points I need over and above what I have.

Well to add a new little wrinkle I just put in a offer for points at VWL and if that would go though, of course will not know for as much as 30 days.

If I get that contract the points I would need are 74 if I don't 184.

But if I understand how this works, and I am very green with this, I could get points from someone for the 184 right now and if/when the new contract goes though bank those for next year.

If I could get BCV points, I have 100 of these now, that would be the best then I could make my ressie now - any other home resort points of course I will have to wait until Jan 16 to start booking. (7 month window)

Hope someone can tell me if I am thinking this the right way or not and if I should just go to the rent/tranfer board and start looking now.
