Hello - We are heading down in Aug. staying at the THV with my family of four and my MIL & FIL. My In Laws are not staying the entire time. I would love to do the DDP - do I have to name my in laws on my ressie? Can't I just give them one of our keys to use in the Villa? If they buy anything in the parks/restaurants they will pay in cash or credit card.

Do they have to be listed?

Thanks

Everyone is suppose to be registered and have the same plan. You can segment the reservtion and only list them on that reservation. For EMH everyone will need to show a room key.

if they are driving they won't have a parking sign for their car if not listed on the ressie

If you give them one of your keys then your family won't be able to use EMH either. It is unethical as well as against the DVC rules that you agreed to with your purchase but again it is unlikely that unless they want to use the resort amenities or EMH or ME that anyone will notice.

Everyone staying in the villa must be registered. It looks like the dining plan may not work for you while they are staying with you.

I called and asked about that because my daugther is only staying half of the time with us, I was told that one way was to not list her unless she was using the transportation from the airport. The other option was to split the reservation to have her listed in part of the stay only and not the other half, we are getting the DP for the whole stay but I did not want to pay for her for the days that she wasn't going to be there.

They might be able to get away with it, but this kind of violation of the DDP rules is exactly the kind of thing that has caused the prices of DDP to skyrocket, and could well cause DVC owners to lose the DDP "benefit." All it takes is a few clowns to get caught, and "poof!"

(or...a Disney Dining CM to read these boards and see people advising folks how to skirt the rules...)

My advice is, if you can't play by the rules, don't play.

This thread is closed. The DIS does not allow discussion of ways to work around established and published Disney/DVC policy. The policy is that everyone must be registered in the room...not...only if you want to follow the rules.

DVC will allow you to segment the reservation to the inlaws only for the nights you will be there. But on those nights, they will need to have the DDP if you have the DDP. It will also require you to go to the front desk and do another check-in. Somewhat inconvenient, but better than before when it was all or nothing for the entire length of the reservation.
