Can I leave my luggage at a resort I'm not staying at while I go to the park?

Our flight lands at 9:00 and we want to get to the park as soon as possible. We would like to leave our luggage at the first stop once Magical Express leaves the airport. That way we can drop it off, head to the park, then pick it up that evening when we head to our room. Our resort is one of the last stops and our room won't be ready anyway. It will be one bag. I can't find the answer anywhere. Thanks!!

No. You will be directed to the bus going to your resort. Your luggage will be put under the bus with others going to that resort. You have to get off with it.

The order for drop off varies - I've been the first drop and the last drop on 2 different stays at the same resort.

You also cannot have luggage on Disney's busses to and from the parks.

Technically I think it would work. If I recall the bus driver doesn’t care where you get off so you could get off at the first stop and get your bags. I don’t remember bell services checking to see if I had a reservation when I had them store my bags.

It just seems like a bigger pain than what it’s worth. Once you get to the first stop you aren't that far from your stop. You’ll spend tine after going back to get your bags then going back to your resort.

You are assigned to a bus when you are sent out the door. They will ask you what resort. You have no way of knowing at that time which will be dropped off first, so guessing could very well backfire on you as luggage for each resort is put together under the bus and only that door will be opened. As I said, there is no set route for the busses. What is first on one trip could end up last on the next.

Now, if you decided to hop off at the first stop, you'd be doing so without your luggage as the driver won't be opening every underboss container, and I'm not sure what would happen if there was luggage left over that was unclaimed. You might never see it again. WAY too risky and too much trouble if you ask me.

Like it's been mentioned there is no way to know if you'll be the first or last stop. Maybe it would be best to skip DME and use a ride share if you want to get to your hotel ASAP.

Plus that plan seems like it would be a pain at the end of the night when you have to go to a different hotel to retrieve your bags. Were you planning on Ubering to your hotel?

Oh come on...if they get off at the first stop; the driver will get their luggage for them when they ask...let's not be over-dramatic. I agree that I don't think it'd be worth it or worth the time to have to go back to thr first resort to get your bag after, but it is possible to get off at the first stop (with your bag) once on the magical express.

I'd be more concerned as to how you'd retrieve it. Regular buses aren't supposed to allow luggage with wheels on them, but if it's a smaller bag, maybe storing it at the lockers at the park might be an option??

My 1st thought was.. If you get off at the1st stop (and it's not your hotel), the driver then has to go find your luggage in a different spot underneath, you're holding up the guests on the bus for the other stops. They are trying to get to the fun just as quickly as you are.

Agreed - Also, I think the time between resorts is negligible. Best to just go to your resort and drop of your luggage there. I have definitely been asked for my reservation information when asking bell services to hold my luggage.

Could you just pack a backpack and carry it with you? Then put it in a locker at the park?

You could tell the driver what you plan to do and have him/her put your bag in the bin for the first stop.

Exactly, we are talking about another 10-15 minutes at the most. If every second counts, I would recommend to the OP to find another form of transportation from the airport. All of this hassle for a few extra minutes does not seem worth it.

Why would you drop your bag at a random resort? That would make for a difficult time retrieving it later. Plus you can’t bring luggage on the park buses. Just get to your resort and leave you bag at bell services. We never find the amount of time waiting to get to our resort to be that bad. If you are worried about time then why not get your own car service which will pick you up at your arriving terminal? We fly southwest so after getting our bags it alway seems like a trek to get to the ME area.

They sure could do that! As long as they aren't holding up other guests on the bus, and the driver agrees to do it, go for it!

IMO, it's so not worth it, though. After an early morning flight, all day in a park, they'll be tired. Then, instead of just heading back to your hotel, you have to go back to the other resort, get your bag, then.. uber? They can't take the bag on Disney buses, and even if they could, they would need to leave that resort to a park, and then grab a bus to their resort. Way too much hassle! JMO

The other glitch is I have had the experience of the route changing once we are on the road. Usually if they need to change the driver to a route back from one of the resorts s/he is already on. If it was mot already the last resort, the order could be switched.

It’s not common, but it can happen. You could have put your stuff with what was the first stop but becomes the last stop - and then you’ve already passed your resort.

Seems like a roundabout way to go about this. Assuming your are able to leave your luggage at a random hotel, you then have to get to whichever park you plan to visit (you didn't say which one). No hotel is closest to every Disney park. At the end of your park visit you have to get back to the hotel where you left your luggage and then travel to the hotel where you are actually staying (you also didn't say which hotel that is). Not clear how that would save much time in total.

I would just go to your hotel and if your room isn't ready just check the bags with bell services and they will eventually put them in your room when it is ready. Spending a little more time (maybe because your stop could be first) at the start of the day to go to your resort proper will make the return to your room easier at the end of the day.

Yea this is not going to happen. Bell Services or Luggage Services will only delivery to an occupied room. I think you mixed the old DME luggage delivery direct to the rooms with the resort based services.
