Can I get the newly announced room discount for fall applied to my PACKAGE?

UPDATE :

Okay, what I found out is (like so many of you have said) that YES, you can apply the current room discount to the room portion of your existing package reservation! IF, there is availability with said discount.

Each resort that is participating in the promotion, only has a certain number of rooms in certain booking categories that are eligible for the discount.

For example, I tried to apply the discount to my BIL's reservations at All Star Movies, and the only rooms available for the room discount were located in the preferred section. Changing from standard rm to preferred rm, would have cost him an additional $60 even with the discount.

In my case, I was going to apply the 20% discount to the room portion of my existing package at POFQ.
Then it dawned on me that by bumping our vacation ahead by one day, and changing resorts, we could get FREE DINING.
So, I changed our ressie from POFQ to POR and saved $622.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Youre 100% mistaken. You can add a room only discount to the ROOM portion of a package. It doesnt mean you have to have a room only reservation.

Please excuse me from speaking from experience. I bow down to your superior knowledge. I have never been able to do it and therefore never book packages anymore. I now use my cast discount or our military one.

Hmm while reading replies I cannot help but to wonder if maybe it was not necessary for the CM to have us pay the new dining plan costs and possibly she could have kept the same reservation we had at poly with free dining and switched us to a room discount without us having to pay more for dining costs than what were out when I booked us in May of this year.

P.S. I replied earlier on this thread if anyone needs more info. I'd appreciate any input.

If I'm understanding right, you had a FD reservation and changed to the RO discount (but kept it as a package with DDP). I have read reports that the dining plan has recently increased in price, so when you changed discounts, the CM applied the room discount but had to charge you the current dining price. People have reported having to do this with tickets. If someone was booked prior to the ticket price increase and then changed something in their reservation after the tickets went up, they had to pay the increased ticket price. With that said, I'm assuming this is the way it works with the DDP as well, which is why the CM had you pay more for the dining .
