Can I get Premier Pass Discount for drinks with DDP?

Hello All!

This is my 4th trip on the DDP and I think we break even on it. We are big diners and love all the sit down meals. This year, I am trying to recapture dollars in my overall budget that I have been wasting. Gym memberships and all that. This trip to WDW, I'm considering NOT doing the DDP but need to make the decision in the next days. We've been Premier Pass members in the last few years and always forget the hard card to get discounts. This year with the giant price increase, I'm trying to decide on which pass to get if any. We are now DVC members this trip which is new to us. SO, there are lots of new angles.

Here's my question:
Can I get the DDP and then use my premier pass to get the discount on the drinks where applicable?
Can I get TIW and use that for a discount on drinks where applicable?
Is it more cost effective (I have literally exhausted my math abilities with this) to get TIW than do DDP?

We have a couple meals planned that are not DDP and prepaid: Parisian Breakfast, Club Villain. We've prepaid Hoop Dee Doo (and last year I didn't get that credited back after booking DDP) and V & A (which I may cancel it for a Signature meal.

We have many Signature meals planned, Narcoosees, Cali Grill, Jiko, Tiffins, etc. We drink a bottle of wine with each meal (I wish there were a wine and dine!!). And we will do the food festival booths one day and use tons of snacks there.

This has taken days of my life already. Please help!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Will you be taking anymore trips to WDW this next year so that you can use the TIW card again? If there's another trip in the works, then I think the TIW card wins. If not, then you're going to have to do the math.

I don't think you'll "pay" for the TIW if you are only using it to get the discount for drinks and use the DDP for the meal. You're going to want to do one or the other, but not both.

We do plan to return in April of next year so I'm leaning towards the premier pass since we go to DL in February. I believe I'll do as you suggest and do just the discount. I love the ease of DDP but it's also stressful, ironic. : )

1. The AP doesn't include discounts on alcohol. Also the AP dining discount is only at specific restaurants.
2. The TiW can be used for anything not included on the DDP including alcohol.
3. If you're getting the DDP, it would take a lot of OOP dining costs to make the TiW beneficial. The TiW card is $150 for AP and/or DVC members so you would have to spend around $750 OOP to reach the break even point.
4. TiW does not apply to the Parisian Breakfast (or any F&W event) or V&A.
5. DDP has the advantage at the F&W booths where you will probably be able to use the snack credits and the Quick Service credits (3 non-alcoholic items at the food booths, but they have to be ordered at the same time.) This has been the pattern for past F&W and Flower & Garden food kiosks. No TiW benefits at the F&W kiosks.

Here's a table comparing discounts:

Ugh! Back to the drawing board... I've tried working the math day by day and it's nearly impossible to figure without spending more man hours than savings! With a return in April, would you suggest TIW and no DDP ?

It really depends on many factors - how many adults and children in your group, do you do many character meals, do you do a lot of CS meals, during the year period how many days will you be spending in DW...the qualifiers are endless.

We've done DDP, the DxDDP and the TiW, but as a family of three adults we find the TiW more beneficial to us. We prefer TS/sig meals so during the course of our trip to DW we easily cover the cost of the TiW. We also like the fact we're able to order whatever we want on the menu and are not constrained by the rules of the DDP. You can look at the menus on allears, wdwinfo or the Disney site to see what you might be ordering. I just did a quick look at allears for 4 of the signature meals we are planning and they will probably get us very close to the break even point so for us the TiW is the better choice.

Disneyland doesn't have a TiW program, but the dining discounts with the AP are very good. They are good at table service, counter service and at any location that has a hot food item on the menu.

Thanks so much!!

I'm gonna go for the TiW and get at least myself the premier pass again for the merchandise discount and discount at DL. We'll let the Deluxe Dining go this time and keep good records. I love the idea of not stressing about skipping a meal, not eating starters, or whether or not to use a snack for a drink or hold out!
