We're going to WDW for our 1st time soon for 5 days. I'm sure it's a blast, but we're trying to avoid investing in pins and/or pin trading (due to time, expense, energy). I wish we could join in, but we're already spending more $ than we should. I thought we could save lots of $ with ebay, and just get away with $15-$20 for 20 pins. But if I'm reading the board info correctly, that may not be a good idea. Plus I'm really afraid it'll take up a lot of our time and my very limited energy.

Can we get thru the whole trip without DD (5) seeing pin trading and/or wanting to trade pins?

Will CM's approach her/us to trade even if she's not wearing a lanyard or anything?

Any advice on how to keep her from seeing it all, feeling left out or to reduce her interest?

I do think we'll do some coin pressing though, when convenient.

Thanks!

The pins are expensive and when I think about all the money I have spent on pins that could have been spent on oh say Disney Precious Moments figurines or ornaments for my tree I shudder.

It depends on your childs personality. Mines picks only pins she wants to keep forever and has no interest in trading. Of course she also has Aspergers so she is not like normal kids. She may not be the best to compare to.

We have never had issues with staff approaching us because she is wearing the lanyard so I am pretty sure they wont approach your little one without a lanyard. They typically let the child take the initiative

PS DD loves the coin squishing even more than the pins. We spent an entire evening and 11 bucks getting squished coins. The concierge gave us a list of machine locations. We had a great time hunting for the coin machines and seeing the hotels.

the CMs will not approach you, unless you're already wearing pins. Or perhaps if they see your DD doing something spectacular they may gift her with a pin but they wouldn't except anything in return. We went several times before we started pin trading, we didn't miss it at all....until we did it the first time and then we were absolutely addicted. LOL
