Can I extend my room reservation to get 180+10?

I have a 2 day DVC discounted cash ressie (through MS0... continued by an 8 day points ressie.

According to MS - they cannot "link" the reservations so that they are continuous (cash is studio - points is 1 BR.) Therefore - at my 180 day mark I can only make 2 days of dining reservations...and then must wait the 3 more days until the 180 day mark of my point ressie in order to make the remaining ADR's for my last 8 days.

HUGE deal because we are going NYE week and ADR's are in high demand :-(

Can I extend my cash ressie to include all 10 days (no $$ out of pocket for this because it's still only 1 nights deposit I've already paid) and then make my 180+10 at my mark.... and THEN cancel the last 8 days of my cash ressie (since I already have an existing points reservation for that time.)

Does this make sense? I know it takes a cash room out of commission until I cancel it... and that stinks for someone who may be looking for it. BUT - how else can I get the benefit of the 180+10 if MS can't figure out a way for me to be linked.

We have gone Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, New Years, and have never had to book at 180+. Even when we have things unavailable, they have opened up due to cancellations. We also have been flexible when necessary and gone to restaurant B instead of A on a specific night. At Xmas we had a party of 10 for multiple reservations and it worked out.

There's a whole thread on this in the Restaurant section. I personally would not mess with your current reservations. If you want to do this, book a separate one for the entire length of your stay instead. This is in case they don't let you cancel the days you add on to your cash reservation Also, you may need to use a different name on the fake because it could be a problem if you are on 2 different reservations as the lead.

For F&W, my mom checks in 3 days before us in a studio. So she has a studio for 9 days and we have a 1b starting 3 days after her. I manage her account and was able to book all our ADR using her reservation. I doubt I would have gotten Ohana or BOG dinners without her reservation.

Well, it might be able to be done, but they are actually now following the hotel standard by making it hard to do that. They used to be able to just drop days while keeping the deal for the days you keep. But now they are repricing the whole stay to the prices current when you make the change. So it could cause an increase in price when you have them reprice the 2 days after cancelling the 10.
