Here's the deal: Group of 7 DVC members staying at SSR for Fri thru Sat. The girls are staying for an extra 4 nights at a regular resort. I want to drop out of the group on Fri night & check in & stay at the resort Friday night so our room will be available to the rest of our little group on Sat am. CR is telling me I cannot reserve a room for that Friday night because my name is also on the DVC reservation & I can't be in 2 places at the same time. Even though I told them I KNOW I can't be in two places at once (unless I'm Hermione Grainger), they say sorry can't be done. The only solution they offered was to take my name off the DVC reservation, then add it back on when we check in. Which would also mean I could not use DME. Anyone else ever run into this or have any solutions? TIA - Why Oh Why Does Disney Have To Make My Life So Complicated???

It's been my experience that if you put someone else's name on the SSR reservation as the lead or primary you can book the CR reservation in your name. Your name would still be on the SSR reservation but just not the lead.

Actually my sister's name is the lead & primary since she booked that portion of the trip. But I started this booking on the web site before getting a cast member involved, maybe I'll try again starting with a cast member or supervisor. Wish me luck...

Why would you not be able to use DME if you registered at the other resort? It sounds as if the second resort is Disney, which allows you to use DME.
If there is a problem using the same name twice, use initials on one and spelled out on other or middle initial on one and not the other, or change your age by 17 yrs, or as suggested online change your name or remove it from the first reservation, make the second, then online add it back to the first reservation.

Can you make the second DVC reservation online? The online system is much more forgiving than some of the CMs. :teeth:

I believe the issue is due to the wonderful magic bands. It is because they are your room key and are linked to you and not your room. You can't check in to another room until you have checked out of the first room. I think they need to change the system to allow for this.

You could change the first reservation to two different reservations. With leaving you off the second reservation for the final night. Then you would have a third reservation at the final hotel. The other options would be to book the final reservation without you on it initially. You would then have to talk to the front desk to change the reservations on check in day. I am sure it can be done, but it will take some time and frustration at the desk to get accomplished.
