Can I drop nights from a DVC booking

We just returned from a wonderful 7 night BCV stay for F & W. I am getting ready to book next years trip in a few weeks.
I know Disney is not allowing regular resort room nights to just be dropped from a reservation, unless the new reservation is available. In other words, it is a cancellation and a new booking.
Is this the same for a DVC reservation.
The reason I ask is that I need to book my reservation right at 11 months for our BCV F & W visit. But we are still debating 7 nights at BCV (our home resort) or 5 nights BCV and 5 nights Vero Beach. We won't be able to know for awhile.

Thank You Bill,
That is how I would book it. We would keep the first 5 nights at BCV then, if it works out, drop the last 2 nights and add 5 nights at Vero

Do you mean you are unable to drop one or more nights from the middle of a reservation? Didn't know that.

That would require a new reservation.

I don't call unless I have to. I send an email via the member website for non time sensitive contacts, reservation changes, room requests, reallocations. They make the change and email you back a confirmation.
