Can I Do This?

I'll try to be brief...

Based on my projected plans for this year and next year, I may be about 9 points short for the reservation I want in Oct 2014. I saw a post on the R/T board for 9 points that expire 3/31/2013. I currently have a reservation for 3/31-4/5 at HHI booked. The first night (3/31) was NOT booked at 11 months because 4 of the points were AKV points. So, if I were to have those 9 points transferred to me, can I have MS apply them to my 3/31 night?

Also, that night (3/31) was a waitlist that was filled by using (4) 2013 current AKV points and (21) 2014 borrowed HHI points. Could MS then reallocate the borrowed points to one of my other nights (say, 4/1) and free up 21 current points so that I could bank them?

Is my question clear? Can I do this? I am looking to possibly need a WL for October 2014 (want a 2BR standard at BWV) so I won't be able to buy the one-time use points next year. My back up plan is a 2BR value at AKV which I will definitely have enough points to book at 11 months. Those extra 9 points would allow me to either book/waitlist a 2BR standard at BWV or an AKV standard. I haven't used my transfer for 2013 and I should not need one since we have already booked 2 trips this year. Since the transfer is a final transaction and the points expire in 26 days, I want to make sure my plan is even possible.

I'd suspect that doing anything to the 3/31 reservation would place the points in holding. I'd look for a transfer that could be used for the 2014 reservation.

Yes, MS should be able (and willing) to do what you suggest and there would be no reason to cancel the existing reservation so the Holding Account would not come iunto play at all.

If the reservation for the night of 3/31 was made within 7 months, you should be able to substitute transferred points and reallocate the freed up borrowed points to free up some points from the 2013 Use Year to be banked into your 2014 Use Year.

That is a very complex scenerio that you are proposing. I have had several bad experiences when trying to have points reallocated, and even lost my reservation and points when one CM was working on my reservation. I would make sure that I had a CM on the phone that was really sharp and really understood what you are trying to do before I messed with a reservation that is so close. I personally wouldn't trust MS to do what you thinking of if it were me, but you may have a much better experience.

Well, it was a good idea...

I paid the owner via Paypal and she called MS to do the transfer...

...then she called me back and said that since her points are 2012 (April UY) and I am in my 2013 (Feb) UY, the points cannot be transferred. She promptly processed a PayPal refund and all is well.
