Hey guys! I just found the WISH board and am very excited! I have a question to get me started on the boards! I am currently in a sort of bet with my parents...and alot of $ is at stake on their part...not as much on my part but a little. Basically, my parents bet me that I couldn't lose 30 lbs by middle of August and I said I could. I am currently 199 lbs (I lost from 225lbs. since last August at curves and low cal diet) and am holding tight on this number...hit a plateau, not to mention a few weeks that I fell off the wagon after our Jan. trip to WDW. Long story short, I currently have joined the YMCA in our community and am back on a 1500 cal. diet. I basically eat a under 180 cal. b'fast, under 300 cal lunch (usually a lean cuisine) and then eat a nice dinner (we eat out alot) of something like grilled chicken, broccoli or a salad with light dressing. I try to get to the Y at least 3x's per week and I have been doing about 45 minutes (20 on elliptical and 25 right after that on treadmill) of cardio and doing about 8-10 upper body machines (2 sets of 15 reps at a weight that challenges me.) So...with this plan...do you think I can lose 30lbs by mid of August?? Anyone had this happen to them?? If this isn't reasonable, then what should I do to up the chances of losing it by then?? Oh yeah...and all I drink is water...plenty! I would really love to win this bet b/c we have a WDW trip coming up in Sept. and this would basically pay for our trip!! Incentive!! Any opinions?? :confused3

first off :welcome: to WISH!!

you sound very motivated and educated in what it takes to lose weight! is it accountability you are looking for? in what area do you struggle most? food? exercise? staying in it mentally?

feel free to poke around, there are WISH journals in a subboard you'll find at the top of the main WISH page, there are friendly challenges each month, i.e. an exercsie challenge and usually a "lose 5 for XXX" each month. you are more than welcome to pop in and join any of these or other threads anytime!

as far as plateau? and i'm not an expert by any means, but how long have you been following your exercise routine? sometimes mixing it up can restart the losing. or maybe increase your TM speed, or add in hill intervals or speed intervals. Intervals in cardio is a fantastic way to burn fat :teeth:

Hi there!

You can totally do it if you put your mind to it!

My suggestion would be to try to get in as much activity as possible. You will need to be losing 2lb per week to make your goal by mid-August. I've heard that 3 days is enough if you want to maintain, but you need at least 4 days if you want to lose.

Just watch what you eat (as you are already doing...:thumbsup2 ) and just get that body moving.

Losing weight is so hard, but you sound really motivated! You can do this!!! Good luck!

Thanks for the replies so far! Y'all are sooo encouraging! I will be finding a spot to hang out on here for motivation for sure! Funny thing was I was realllllllly motivated from last Aug. till Jan (when I went to WDW) b/c I knew the trip was coming up but then I hit a slump UNTIL our family decided to go back to WDW. Now I have that spark of desire again...funny how planning a trip to WDW can make you want to get in shape! I can tell you this...I WILL DEFINTELY enjoy our free dining once the trip hits! HA! Thanks for the encouragment and look forward to gleaning from your wisdom in the next few months!! :goodvibes
