Wondering if I can combine my 12 VWL points with 18 points which were transferred into my account to make a 30 point reservation to add on one night to a trip? I do not want to dip into the next years VWL points. thanks, Elaine

Yes, you can. Just remember, you're only allowed 1 transfer in or out per UY. Also, if you're planning on making a reservation for a night in the 8 - 11 month time frame, make sure you get points from the same resort. Otherwise, you'll be stuck waiting till the 7 month window to make the reservation. I've read recently that Dis's system is savvy enough now to know what resort has been transferred into your account.

We did exactly that a couple of days ago. We had 9 "Orphan" BCV points left over from a transfer in of 65 points. We were able to combine them with points from a recently purchased BCV contract to make a reservation for "one more night". No more orphan points:goodvibes

Only one transfer in or out per use year, this is the first that I am hearing of this??? Is this information correct??

I bought a very small contract (25 points) just a month ago and asked if you could do unlimited transfers into your account from other members and the answer was up to 3000 points?

Please let me know if I was told bad information??

I believe you were told bad information. The DVC book I have clearly says that only transfer in or out is allowed. Which means if you transfer points to someone, you are no longer allowed to receive them. The reverse is also true.

Not only that but if you read the POS carefully, no person may ever have more than three years worth of points available in the current use year (i.e., 75 points if you have a twenty five point contract) (though it seems that this is sometimes not enforced). Furthermore, there is to be no compensation paid for any transfer.

Oh, Oh!!!!!

What did I do? It looks like I will be adding on thru Disney!

it's hard to imagine only using 25 points--even banking and borrowing. The good news is that you can add on another 25+ points and there is no closing fee. Also, for transfers, it is the usage year of the points, not when the transfer is made. Ex., if I had a transfer of 2009 points in my 2008 UY, I can't have another transfer or make a transfer out of 2009 UY points.

I don't understand this--is that for a 50 point contract--you can only bank 50, have 50 current and borrow 50? How does that affect a transfer? I do not understand this.

My thought was to buy a 25 point contract and simply buy transferred points from other members when we wanted to take a trip. That way we are in the club and can make our own reservations.

Suppose you own a 50 point contract.

You bank points from year #1 into year #2 so that year #2 now has 100 points.

You then transfer 50 points from someone else into your year #2. Your year #2 now has 150 points.

You may not borrow any points from year #3 and put them into year #2 because that would put year #2 at more than 300% of your contract.

If instead of getting 50 points transferred from someone else, suppose you only got 40 points transferred. In this case you could bank 10 points from year #3 into year #2.

That's how it's suppose to work. How it actually works in practice is anybody's guess.

so, for a 50 point contract, what if I get 100 points transferred into 2009 UY, then I bank my 2008 points into 2009, giving me 150 2009 points---what happens to my 2009 UY allotment of 50 points--do I not get them?
Can I bank my 50 transferred points prior to my 2009 UY allotment--so that they go into my 2010 year? Does having a reservation, say for 50 points, in the 2009 UY alleviate this situation?
Surely I get my 2009 UY points?
