We are flying to Orlando in September and are not getting a rental car. We are staying at Beach Club Villas, so I want some food. I need to eat 6 times a day, so it's easier if I have food with me. My choices to get food are 1) take it with me in my suitcase and check it or 2) take a towncar and stop at the grocery store. Choice 1 is easier and cheaper for me. However, I remember hearing that you can only take food in your carry-on, not in checked baggage. I have searched the Internet, and can find nothing regarding this topic. Can anyone help me find this answer?

Next question. Next Friday it will be 6 weeks from our trip. I do not have airline tickets yet. Last two times we gotten great airfare to Orlando from Denver at about $120 a ticket. They are currently at $223. I keep telling myself I need to have tickets purchased before 6 weeks, but I do not know why. Is there something horrible that happens if you purchase your tickets with less than 6 weeks to go? Will the prices go down from $223? Am I dreaming to think I'll get less than $150 per ticket? Is it real important to have my airline tickets purchased before the 6 weeks date?

Help, I only have a little over a week to decide what to do!

We always have food in our luggage and have never had a problem. We use the towncar services and don't have the grocery stop (once I get on the plane, I am on vacation and do not want to step foot in a grocery store). I put things like pop tarts, granola bars, chips, bottled water. I looked on our airlines website and it didn't say anything about not doing this. We too, leave in Sept but I bought my tickets back in April (I'm glad I did as they have doubled now). I guess I would buy ASAP, I can't imagine the tickets getting less in the next six weeks.

You can pack food in your checked luggage, they ask that you don't, but, most people do.

Just be careful you don't go overweight. If you want to get a lot of drinks it might be easier to make a grocery stop. The stores in Fl probably aren't any more expensive than the stores home.

30 days,21 days, 14, 7 days out is usually when you see the prices start to change. Sometimes but not always they get more expensive the closer you get to leaving. So I would start looking now and book when you see a good price because shortly they will only be getting more expensive unless a sale comes along.

Thanks for the replies. The extra expense I was talking about was getting a towncar vs. Mears shuttle, not prices being more at the grocery store in Fl. I won't be taking drinks. Egg bagels, oatmeal, pop tarts, granola bars, stuff like that. We use a Brita water bottle, so we don't need to take water.

I keep thinking I'll catch a sale on airfare, but they are just not going down. If I buy it now, and it goes down, can I get a refund or credit towards other tickets?

It depends on the airline how they handle lower prices. Also places like Expedia and Travelocity don't usually issue vouchers if the ticket price drops.
