Sorry for the stupid question and yes I tried searching it. Maybe i'm just using the wrong search terms. In a nut shell I have a Boardwalk contract and a BLT contract. I made a reservation for October 2018 with my Boardwalk points to get 11 month booking. Can I change the origin of the points after my 7 month window has pasted to use the BLT points instead? No change to the reservation just the origin of the points. If your curious I was wanting to bank the Boardwalk points for another trip next year. If I'm missing something please chime in. I am notorious for not thinking things through. We just always stay at the Boardwalk and like to have the 11 month booking window.

Following. I have slightly different situation where I have a reservation on my existing AKV points, bought a new AKV contract and want to switch the reservation to my new membership and sell the old one.

No. You used the home advantage points booking window to book the reservation. To switch to non-home ponts, they couldn't just switch out the points. They would have to cancel the reservation. You could try to rebook it with the BLT points, but would probably lose it. They cannot hold it for you. Sorry.

Since they are both AKV points, I think you can. Good luck.

No a reservation booked in a home resort priority cannot just be switched to a contract from a different resort. That would be circumventing the system. You would need to rebook the stay.

Is the new contract under the same membership as the old? If so then yes, MS can reallocate the points. But if it's an entirely different membership then no. You would have to rebook the stay.

Thanks, it should be under the same membership since it's the same use year.

Perhaps a stupid question that I should have asked before I bought.. I can still sell my original points even though they'll be combined with my new ones under the same membership, right? I assume it goes by contract number, not by membership number.

Yes it goes by contract number, so if you do not have any points allocated on that contract for future vacations you can sell that contract now.

Which means it’s time again for a primer on terminology if I may: We have two June UY contracts and are closing on a February. They will be titled exactly the same. Will the February be the same or a different/new membership? We are hoping to shuffle points as well although losing what we currently have booked wouldn’t be a huge deal.

Thank you

I have two use years. If you buy points in a different use year, it will be a new membership number and you will essentially be considered two separate members. As long as the deeds have the same names, you will be able to have Disney put both memberships together in the same member website pages. However, you will have the two different use years, two different banking dates, two different annual statements, and two different withdrawals from your banking account if you set up automatic monthly withdraw for your dues. You will not be able to mix the points from one use year with the other use year to reserve any particular night and thus if you intend to use both use years to make a single vacation, you need to either first transfer points from one membership to the other or use one use year to reserve part of the nights, the other to reserve the remaining nights, and then have MS link the two reservations so you will not have to change rooms.

You cannot replace points in a reservation made with one use year with points from the other even if the points are for the same resort; to make the change you would have to cancel the reservation and make a new one. The possible exception to that is if you first transfer points from one use year to the other and then they might allow you to make the switch but I am not sure about that one since I have never had to try it.

Thank You both. We went into the second UY with our eyes open. We intend to use the two completely separately and have forecasted points usage and banking forward far enough to have an good idea how it “should” look. We just have a couple of <7 month reservations made with June points that we would, if given the opportunity trade out to use banked points in the new February contract. Likely we’ll just cancel/rebook. Thanks again.

Just an update: our new points went live today. My wife called to see about “swapping” the points on our existing CCV reservation to use the new UY/Membership. As was said here they could not do that, and CCV was no longer available. We had the CM go ahead and cancel our CCV “placeholder” and book a replacement reservation with the new points and waitlist CCV . As soon as he hit enter the CCV became available again so I guess we picked up our original reservation via waitlist, albeit almost immediately. So it worked out great in the end. Thanks so much again for the information.

That has happened to me as well. The CM indicated that it might be because there were currently no wait lists so when we canceled what we held, it showed right back up and we were able to book. So happy it worked out for you!!!
