I understand the buy where you want to stay, but aulani doesn't seems to be available for purchase (I can't find any membership for aulani at DisneyVacationClub website, not interested in calling them for info). I don't see any resales for aulani on the resales sister site.

I'm interested in hearing your collective opinions. I can go at any time. Not a current DVC owner nor own any other timeshares. Is it doable? Or wait until aulani resales hit the market?

I read on wiki that aulani timeshare sales had been suspended indefinitely. What's that all about?

Anyhoo, I would love to be able to spend 2 weeks at aulani every years.

There were some issues with Aulani sales earlier this year. DVC had to change the dues for the points and they are much higher now. I believe Aulani is being sold again but that might have changed.

My understanding is that the resort will be huge. However, most of the points so far have been sold in the Far East, i.e. Japan, not the US. This will probably make for a resort when busy times are associated with Japanese holidays, not the traditional Christmas or Easter. I bet you could buy at SSR and stay 2 weeks as long as your travel times are flexible.

Aulani is a very expensive resort, points wise. You can rent there cheaper right now.

You also might find after a few years you want to visit Kauai, Maui or the Big Island. Hawaii is wonderful,

I think given the size that Aulani will be when all phases (I think I read there are 3) are complete you'll be get availablily at 7 months as long as you are flexible on the room view and time you go. I personally couldn't see purchasing Aulani points given the really high maintenance fees. I hope to use my SSR points there in January 2014. I dont' really care if i get a 1 bd or studio or what view as long as I can get a week in the same room.

I think buying resale to use at Aulani is a great idea...at least for now. There is of course no guarantee that you'll get what you want at the 7 month window for booking, but right now it seems you can. If/when you can't, you can always resell your SSR contract and buy an Aulani resale (likely to be available by then.) It makes financial sense to me. (Not that I'm an expert.)

We are using our BWV points to stay in Aulani next month. I won't buy into Aulani until we can't get in at the 7 month window either. We're about to buy more BWV resale because we find we are using more and more points in Florida, California, and Hawaii. Can't beat the prices on resales right now.

I'll add, we did buy BLT points because we want to use the Grand Villa there from time to time (and have used it.) A home advantage is necessary for that. (That's why we purchased BWV too--because of the GV use.)

There aren't many (any?) Aulani resales yet because people haven't owned their contracts there for very long/haven't figured out if they want to keep them/sell them/go through life circumstances that cause sales of contracts. I think the first VGC resale contracts started appearing about a year or so after they started selling it/the resort had opened, etc. :confused3

Aulani is beautiful and certain times of year there will be difficult. Atm, people are having trouble getting in at the 7 month mark for summer 2012. Here in the islands during summer vacation/spring break/holidays we play "spot the local car" because residents are often outnumbered 3 or 4 tourists to one of us.

If where you want to stay is Aulani, I'd wait for resales to hit the market. Its a larger resort, but if you're flying you're going to be planning a trip far in advance anyways so you might as well have the 11 month window and be able to cherry-pick your room type/time frame rather than having to play the 7 month window roulette. Just my $.02.

You mention renting at Aulani. How do you do that?
