my baby's doctor said i need to up her fat intake. will i be able to buy plain, whole fat yogurt or avocados anywhere at disneyland? we're staying at the grand californian... i only remember flavored yogurts at white water snacks.

if not, can i bring them on the plane with me? i suppose i'd need a cool pack for the yogurt.

Ah, those were the staples of my babies' diets!

I am doubtful you'd be able to buy those at the resort. Perhaps grocery delivery would be an option? That is what we did when traveling with a baby.

If flying from within the U.S., you could bring avocados on the plane but yogurt likely would not make it past security unless it was pre-packaged in amounts of 3 oz or smaller. You could take it on the plane if you could find it in the terminal past security but that is unlikely also.

You must have a little one ~ DD was alway 3% for weight when she was a baby, her ped. almost had me switch to formula for her ~ I must make skim milk ;)

We bring frozen GoGurts on the plane (in our checked luggage) and they do fine ~ perhaps you could freeze her yogurt for the plane ride. You could check avocados as well I'm sure.

If they see the avocadoes they may take them. Flying might be different, but when driving, we're not allowed to bring fruit into California from other states.

Also, whole milk yogurt doesn't freeze well, IMO. BTDT ... it's edible but my kids wouldn't eat it cuz of the changed texture.

I went on a search for yogurt in the parks for someone a while back and only for breakfast at the Blue Ribbon Bakery was there any yogurt and it would not be plain. You could talk to the chef of the hotel and explain your needs and that would be expensive.

Your only option would be grocer delivery, take a cab to go shopping, and check Whitewater Snacks as they might have yogurt but not whole fat plain.

If you cannot make the proper arrangements then PM me as I will help disboarders at cost if they have tried every possible option.

Stop at a store en route and bring it in.... Should not be an issue.

Well, actually it would be an issue if they weren't driving and were taking a shuttle as a lot of us do. We don't rent a car when we fly in, so we take the shuttle and have groceries delivered.

Two ideas: there is a Trader Joes in Orange, CA not far from the Disneyland Resort. They will definitely have avocados and plain whole far yogurt.

However, you should also consider contacting Disneyland Dining. They might be able to arrange the special food for you at various restaurants.

I'm thinking we might get a taxi and go to Trader Joe's instead of getting a delivery from Vons. We order mostly organic food when we get our delivery at DLR (due to dietary restrictions/food allergies in the family), so I'm thinking this might work out for us. For, our last trip, I went to our local Trader Joe's before we left and I brought a lot of things with us on our trip. I might just go ahead and get everything when we're there next time since it is so close. Thank you for mentioning this. :-) Google maps says it is about 5 1/2 miles from Hojo. I did the calculations and it will cost about $15.00 for the taxi fare and then about $7.50 more for the 15 mins. that it will take me to shop, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth the $ to go there or just bring everything with us again. Thanks again for mentioning this option.

thanks for all the replies... and great ideas :)

i checked von's and was surprised to see they don't have plain whole yogurt. i think my best bet is to send the food through checked luggage with a cool pack and keep my fingers crossed. hopefully security won't take my avocados!

i think you will be fine with them in luggage but make sure they are in sealed baggies as you would not want a mess. If for any reason you cannot get the stuff to your room via baggage then let me know and I will see about Whole Foods Market and lots of other stores that I could bring you some.

How old is your baby? when we were told to do this the doctor said to buy dry cereal and add sego can milk. the milk has lots of calories and it travels well as its in a can. Also he told us to get pudding cups. this would make it so much easier to pack.
if you stick with plain yougert and avacodo's then you will need to take a taxi off site. :)

it's so generous of you to offer - you must have a very lucky family! :)

i just bought some yobaby at whole foods to bring on the trip. they now make it in plain... no sugar added!! it comes in individual serving sizes, so it will be even easier to take to the park with me. i'm so excited!

and i will bring a big ziplock for it. :)

thanks again for all the replies!

I am so glad you got your yogurt.

Just me and mom, no neices, nephews or kids. I have Calvin who is like a brother to me. I am just doing what comes naturally. I have seen how fast evil works and how fast good works. I have been in places in my life where people have helped me out and I remember that helplessness and that thankfulness. I am not special at all.

If you need anything just pm or holler.:)

That's awesome - I will have to look for plain Yobaby! Have a great trip!
