Can I buy Disney Gift Cards with a Disney Gift Card?

This may be a silly question. But if I have a bunch of generic Disney gift cards I purchased at a local store, can I use them to buy the pretty ones on the Disneygiftcard.com website?

No. Believe me, I've tried. When you get to the checkout page, the only options for payment are credit/debit card, Disney Rewards redemption, and PayPal. No way to enter in a Disney gift card as payment.

But the selection of gift cards in the brick and mortar stores are so limited...

What I did was buy a cute one for each of my kids for a small amount for their souvenir money. I then went to disneygiftcard.com and transferred money on to them from the boring cards I have gotten at a discount.

What you could do is buy a pretty gift card online with the minimum balance and then go to disneygiftcards.com and transfer your generic card balances on to it.

Unless the website has changed in the last couple of weeks, you cannot combine Disney GCs that were purchased from different sources. I tried to combine balances from Disney GCs purchased at Target and Staples with some pretty Disney GCs with $) balances that I had saved but it wouldn't work. That was about 2-3 weeks ago. I haven't tried it lately.

It's still true. I tried to combine one that I got from DVA with a Target one the other day and it wouldn't let me.

I guess I either got all mine at the same place or got very lucky. Out of 25 gift cards (including ones from the Disney store and Disney movie rewards and Kroger) only 4 of mine didn't combine. But I think I mostly bought mine at Kroger or the Disney Store. So maybe it has to do with that? I know I put them all on a pretty gift card I got online. Except for the 4 that wouldn't go on but they combined with each other. Hopefully they fix that in the future.

I actually combined two of mine last night. One was a pretty one from disneygiftcards and the other two were from Target. It worked perfectly.

I tried it again this morning and this time it worked! Two older Disney GCs, which were purchased from Disney in 2009, were combined with two Target GCs, which were purchased two weeks ago. I'm going to try this again with a GC that was purchased from Staples and the one that I got from the DVA. Thanks for inspiring me to try it again!

ETA: I was able to combine the GC that I purchased at Staples with an old GC purchased from Disney. It hadn't worked on previous attempts, so it appears that the problem has been fixed.

I'm so glad that worked! Darn, now I wish I hadn't already combined that Olaf card, I don't think they let you put stuff on a card with 0 balance. Oh well, no matter, I have the majority on a pretty gift card.

I do know that the Disney Store merchandise cards can't be merged. Tried that unsuccessfully.

On a separate note, you can buy Target GCs with another Target GC.

Try it. It might work.

A helpful CM in MK let us buy some GCs in one transaction, then use them right away for the things we actually came into the Emporium for! I think we got 2 cards each.

You can upload them to a Disney Vacation Account and then use the account to purchase a new card.
