We are leaving for our 7 day visit to Disney on the 17th. I am not sure what I can bring, or if I should. I want to pack some snacks and carry extras in a backpack. Can I bring one into the parks? Is it more of a hassle if I do? What can I do with it while I am on rides?
What about my laptop? Can I hookup to the internet in my room (por)? Also, we are getting a in-room refrig. How big are they? Can I fit a good amount in it? We are renting a car for our visit so we can eat off sight, but I want to shop for food so we can eat in our room too.
Because we will have a car, is it easier to get around with our own trans or should we use their trans?
I am sorry to ask so many questions. I have read so many tip books, that I am a little scared to be going. They all make it sound like we will never get on rides we want to and will not have much fun. Is it really that crowded? HELP!!!!

TIA
Megin

You can take a backpack into the parks, but you will have to go through security to have it checked. No big thing and doesn't take long to pass through. You can also take your backpack on the rides with you, put it between your legs, etc. I usually put mine between my feet, but I wrap a strap around one leg just in case.

As for the fridge and internet hook up, I'm not sure.

My DH and I always use our rental to get around. Sometimes the bus transportation can take too long, especially if you have PS for dinner somewhere. If you take a bus you need to allow plenty of extra time to make your PR time.

As for the crowds, at this time of year they die down some, but parks are still full. Make sure you get fastpasses for the popular rides. This will save you time waiting in long lines. Get your fastpass and go ride some other rides until it's time for your fastpass.

Hope this helps a little. Have a great time. DH and I will be down there on the 16th through the 21st staying at Boardwalk Villas.

I am so jealous...but really, September crowds can't be too bad with all the kids starting school. My bible (The Unofficial Guide) says Sept is pretty low attendance!

You can bring snacks in your backpack now. Before 9/11 and bag checks, no snacks or drinks were allowed, but now they won't say anything. If you can bring a smaller backpack, I'd recommend it. You can bring your bag into just about all the rides, but watch for wetness on Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids.

Its great to use your own car, especially on nights where you do fireworks, Fantasmic, etc., because the busses can have long lines. Also if you need to go anywhere quick. I find the bus system to be pretty good most days, though.

Enjoy your trip!! Don't let the guides scare you. :hyper:

Thanks Fastpassme & dvc. Fastpassme, we are neighbors. I am in Mansfield.

Wow, small world...oh no, Small World is closed isn't it. I hope the weather is better when you go. It seems like this is the year for Disney hurricaines. I'm going late Nov. to catch the Christmas festivities. I really liked POR though, very festive!:jester:

We always bring a small cooler in with us because my friend will not drink Coke, he is totally a Pepsi drinker.
Security will not allow you to bring in any glass items. This includes baby food, I have seen them take glass jars away, so make sure you have everything in plastic or cans.
My friend tried to bring in a few beers with him for the 4th of July this past trip and he was told he couldn't. They were in cans. So he "brought" them back to the car. He readjusted the items in the cooler and put the pepsi on top and his 3 beers on the bottom and they let him through since they only saw the Pepsi. So they don't check that much, but be prepared that they might take your food away or not allow it in. He uses an electric cart so we have the cooler on his cart for him. I prefer the Mexico Fiesta Margaritas and Coke so they were my drink of choice for the 4th of July fireworks. Peggie

We stayed @ AKL in Sept03 and rented refridgerator for the 5 days we were there. It fits under the counter in the vanity area of the bathroom and held 1 gallon of milk, 12 cans of soda and 4 bottles of water. It was was an extra $10 and change and well worth it!::yes::

Hi all, I'm a lurker around here and I just had to comment, thanks soooo much for mentioning about the baby food jars!! I had no idea and I was planning on taking them!

Just a tip, when I went with my 3 month old in 2001 I lost his pacifier and looked all over main street to buy one and could not find one anywhere, I even asked CM's and they said no!! So if you have a baby that uses one bring extra!
