I've seen lots people discuss buy CD/Pictures in DC, since it's $100+ just wondering can I bring waterproof camera to DC? ;)

Yes-do! I bought a Kodak PlaySport ($119 at Sam's) specifically for our trip last Sept. So worth it! Takes underwater video and pictures. As PP said you just can't use it in the Dolphin Pools. But I had my DM take pictures of us standing nearby. She got some great pix. We've been twice and haven't bought the pix/CD they sell either time.

Have fun-it's a blast!

You are also not allowed underwater in the stingray pool, but you are allowed to take pics.

Really? I took mine in in Sept. but we were the only guests in the pool at the time so maybe they cut us some slack, didn't notice, or have changed their policy?

Here are a few I took in the ray pool with my underwater cam. Not great pix but it was cloudy and rainy out. No flash.

I just checked their website and it only excludes the Dolphin Lagoon. Maybe you had an employee who was mistaken?

Cameras and video recorders
Guests may use their personal cameras and video recorders throughout the park, with the exception of the dolphin lagoons (for the safety of our animals and your photo equipment). We do, however, allow other party members to take photos and record video of the interaction from our beach areas. In addition, we provide photographers and videographers to capture your memories. Photography and video packages vary in selection and pricing. [back to top]

I think they meant you aren't allowed to go underwater yourself :) You can wade and pet the stingrays but can't put your head in I guess.

I am going to have to check out that camera :) I have a flip but they haven't made an underwater case yet for mine that I know of. Will have to go see if one came out yet or not.

PP has it right for what I meant. We weren't allowed to go underwater, like physically put your head under, in the stingray pool, but we could use the underwater camera under water (as in stick in under the water and snap a pic)

When I was there in January, they were telling people left and right not to go under. I think its a matter of people would try to swim if they went under, and since that water is so shallow and there's so many rays in the area, you'd end up kicking or hitting them. In the Coral Reef, the rays have more room to avoid you.

I have the Kodak Sport & love it:love:. I bought it about 2 months ago for our trip in May & we have taken it to Swim School to practice getting some underwater shots & it is getting videos!
It is water proof up to 10ft.

Thanks for straightening it out. :goodvibes Makes perfect sense to me. If you want to swim with the rays just go to the coral reef right next to the ray pool.

I love my Kodak Playsport so much more than I thought I would. I use it all the time for shooting video of my DD11's softball games. I attach it right to the back stop using my Gorilla pod and get great quality video! Even during the night games And I get a lot of interesting comments. First time I used it at WDW at TL there was one boy who told me to be careful and not get my cell phone wet! Then I "accidently" dropped it in the wave pool. The look on his face was pretty funny. :lmao:

I researched it before I bought it and the only negative comment I got was that the quality of the video out of the water was poor. I have had no problem with the quality. If you leave it on the waterproof setting but use it above water then the sound quality will be muddled. But if you use the right setting (video and stills) you will get great pix and sound.;)

The only negative I have found, and this is true of all LCD screens, is it can be tricky to get your shot within frame when underwater. But that gets better with experience. My suggestion if you get one is to practice in a pool or something before you use it at DC or WDW. I practiced in the hotel pool the day before we went to DC.

When I was at Sam's the other day the Sport and the Flip cameras were right next to each other and both were $119.

No problem with the underwater camera at DC but you can't bring it in with the Dolphins, they are pretty strict on what can and cannot go into the Dolphin Lagoon for the safety of the dolphins and you.

I have an Olympus Stylus it was more than the Kodak one's PP's have talked about, but it goes up to 35ft and we snorkel so the deeper water depth sold it for me. I love it though and it is funny at the water parks to hear some of the comments when people see your camera in the water. I've had a couple of people really concerned I was ruining my camera.

I just bought the NEW Kodak Playsport ZX5 and love it. It has been out for just a few weeks now. It is a lot better than the previous model. I would highly recommend the new model. Its got macro and one touch between video and stills. Also you do not get the muffled sound after being under water and the file formate is MP4 vs MOV.:thumbsup2
