I called today to make my DDP res and DVC Member Services said that since we are staying 5 nights I have to get DDP for 5 days. That would be fine except we don't arrive @ MCO until after 9:00 PM on Thurs (6/14) and then we leave on a 9:15 AM flight on Tues (6/19) which means we will be checking out before 7 AM! I obviously don't need 5 days worth of meals. Traveling with DH, DS6 and DD3 so we are talking about $100 worth of meals that won't be eaten.

We are staying at SSR and are new DVC members. I asked Member Services if it would be possible to break up my reservation into a 1 night res and another for 4 nights. She told me "sure, but you would have to move your room". Are you serious???

Since we are leaving in 8 days I really need some help from my fellow DISers quick. Is it possible for me to change up my reservation at this point without having to move during my stay??

You could easily use five TS credits and five QS credits per person over 4 days of dining if you really want to do the DDP. That's 2.5 meals per day. If you schedule a dinner show or signature meal, you'll use up credits very quickly.

But perhaps the DDP isn't the best choice for you this trip.:confused3

And welcome home!:goodvibes

This is the way Disney can still make money on the DDP, by requiring it for every night of your stay and for everyone in your party. It's a hard rule, I don't think you can get around it unless you do 2 separate reservations. I would do a separate reservation for the first night and move if you have to before unpacking in the morning.

The other thing you could do would be to book a character breakfast one morning which would use your extra TS and then eat your TS dinner later that night. Or as already mentioned you could book a 2 credit dinner show or TS restaurant.

The DDP is based on reservation/hotel nights, not number of days.

You MAY have to switch rooms. Then again, you may not. If you want to split your reservation in two, make sure to tell the CM when you first get to the Registration Desk. They will try to put you in a room that you can keep the whole time (although you will have to actually check out-and-in).

Do you have ADR's for your 4 meals??? If not you might want to just cancel now...availability might be dismal. Or if you already have your ADR's you can add a character breakfast depending on availability.

I was told that for DVC that the DDP was in effect for the entire length of stay at the resort.. so moving into a different room for 1 night won't turn off the plan...so ask MS before you do that...

I agree with others, just book a 2TS credit night for one place (I love Narcossees). Use your extra CS credits for a breakfast. We always arrive first thing in the morning on arrival day and depart late in the evening on departure day, so we get full use of our credits. The only other option would be to stay at one of the other resorts your arrival night and move to the DVC resort first thing in the morning. You save on points and won't have to worry about having too many credits to use.

If you have two separate reservations you can have the DDP on one and not the other as long as the 2 reservations are not LINKED. If they are not linked, most likely the person will have to vacate the room and move. LINKING ensures that the person does not have to move. We have 2 reservations for August, a 4 night at OKW and a 5 night at BCV. We are only getting the ddp for the 4 night OWK stay, but not the BCV stay.

We had a split ressie last year at OKW> We had 5 days on pts and 1 day cash. We were able to link the ressies and not move, but it did also link the DDP credits. Which worked for us, since I had plans for those TS credits;)

I would suggest using your extra CS for BK and doing 1 or two signiture TS or a dinner show as suggested by the other posters. You could even do a character BK. I find that it is easier to book 2 TS places without as much notice so you will probably be able to get in. I would try Jiko or Narcossees they have great reviews!
